Perhaps envious of all of the attention that Glamour magazine has received for featuring Kailee O'Sullivan in its pages, Woman's World--which is a weekly lifestyle-oriented tabloid that ranks as the "best-selling women's publication" in America--is joining in the promotion of plus-size beauty as well.

Forum contributor Kirsten informs us that the current issue of Woman's World features a wholly positive article about . . . Barbara Brickner.

As Kirsten notes, this magazine--like all women's publications--is rife with mixed messages, but the benefits of having a goddess such as Barbara Brickner given mainstream exposure are considerable. Ideally, this article--and further examination of Barbara's aesthetic accomplishments by the many readers who will be discovering her for the first time, thanks to this page--will help offset the media's negative effects on women's body image.

Kirsten has also kindly provided us with a splendid scan of the tear sheet. If you are unable to make out the text in the image below, please click on the link at the foot of this post to see the page at a larger, more readable size.

Barbara's statements are always uplifting and encouraging, and her own example--of learning to love herself at her natural size, and achieving worldwide success as a plus-size model--is truly inspiring.

And don't miss the wonderful sidebar in the bottom-right corner, which lists some of the innumerable benefits of being fuller-figured.

Careful readers will also uncover the wonderful news, in the above article, that Barbara is currently in a family way, and will soon be giving her daughter Rebecca a younger sibling.

All of us at The Judgment of Paris congratulate Mrs. Brickner on this joyful development, and wish her the very best.

It's absolutely wonderful to see Barbara getting some mainstream publicity. Her greatest contribution to size celebration has always been in the form of gorgeous modelling images - and in that, no one can top her. But like all of Barbara's fans, I have always wished to see her become more prominent in terms of PR. In her interviews, she has always been intelligent and articulate, and more importantly, she has a natural grace about her, a sweet voice and a "soft touch," that makes her incredibly likeable. Between her charisma and her staggering beauty, no one could represent plus-size modelling and full-figured femininity the way that she could. I hope she will garner more publicity in the future, after her new baby arrives - and most importantly, that she returns to modelling as soon as she can. (I wish she could go straight from the delivery room to her next shoot!)

Incidentally, Barbara has a page in the new Kohl's flyer:

Being in a "family way" gives her a curvaceous silhouette, and since most viewers won't know her condition, they will simply be awed by the sight of such a gorgeous and genuinely full-figured model.
