We have often praised fashion's annual prom magazines as perhaps the loveliest creations of the industry. Much like bridal magazines, except in full, vibrant colour, they invariably display models in attractive, feminine dresses, set against idyllic backdrops.

However, as showcases of plus-size beauty, their merits are minimal, and in this respect, the current crop of prom magazines is the poorest in many years. Not a single 2008 magazine has a layout to match Kelsey Olson's gorgeous two-page editorial from last year.

Nevertheless, there is one bright light in the darkness, and that is a page in Seventeen Prom 2008 devoted to one of said magazine's two exciting "in-house" plus-size models, the adorable Kelly.

Kelly's work has been celebrated twice on this forum before, particularly in conjunction with Seventeen's Rubenesque blonde goddess, Elle. However, this prom page shows Kelly at her loveliest to date.

Even the header is affirmative--"I love my curves." Any vixen with curves like Kelly's should love them indeed--as would any young man who lays eyes on her, especially in these attractive gowns.

Observe how utterly gorgeous Kelly appears in this purple dress. Her arms are full and, most importantly, very soft, without a trace of unattractive muscle tone. Her thick brunette tresses cascade freely, unrestrained, over her bare shoulders. The dress doesn't bind her waist, instead suggesting its alluring fullness. Her pink cheeks and round facial features speak of uninhibited self-indulgence. The quote from the model couldn't be more perfect. She is right to be proud of her full, womanly shape, and to want to show it off. And any male prom-goer who happens to look her way will surely wish to "hug" her, just as her dress does.

The dress wisely reveals her extremely shapely legs--again, softly rounded, their beautiful contours due to appealing fullness rather than to an ugly "toned" look. Compare her legs in these pictures to the images from her last Seventeen editorial, and the improved beauty of her more opulent figure is apparent.

Also attractive is this crimson dress, especially around the bust. Note, again, that it doesn't constrain her lovely waist. Kelly's facial features are flushed with health and vitality, exhibiting that particular glow that goddesses acquire when they do not starve themselves, but eat whatever they like.

This white dress shows off Kelly's gorgeous legs just as the purple gown, above, does--and again, compare her current look to her past editorial, and see how much more attractive her fuller legs have made her. This dress has an appealingly thin "sash" belt (so much preferable to a ghastly "wide" belt--the ugliest accessory in creation), along with an adorable bow at the side. The most alluring aspect of the dress is how open it is at the bust. A gown such as this will ensure that every make every male prom-goer in Kelly's vicinity will have eyes for her, and her alone, throughout the night.

But the best fashion accessory of all--the aesthetic item that makes these dresses so irresistible--is Kelly's own soft, voluptuous figure, and how well the dresses exhibit it.

Seventeen is, to its credit, currently running a monthly body-image column. However, by far the best way that this magazine could improve the self-esteem of its curvier readers would be if it featured gorgeous and visibly full-figured models like Kelly and Elle in its pages more often. Dressing-tips editorials such as this are fine, but even better would be full, glossy fashion layouts, showing the beauty of these models in all their sumptuous glory.
