View Full Version : Charlotte Coyle: NEW campaign for Monif C.

9th May 2009, 06:06
In a stunning coup, New-York-based label Monif C. has enlisted the services of Irish goddess Charlotte Coyle to headline its Summer 2009 campaign.

And as one might expect whenever the exciting Miss Coyle is involved, the pictures are some of the most gorgeous and size-positive that the public has ever seen.

What a difference it makes to have a true plus-size model showcase a dress--and to have that dress be curve-accentuating (as Monif C.'s designs emphatically are). Just look at how Monif C.'s design wraps closely, lovingly over Charlotte's voluptuous figure in this image, indicating the alluring fullness of hips. Charlotte--who is brilliant at generating steamy poses and expressions--plays seductively with her golden tresses. The result is an image of extraordinary sensuality.

Even more daring is the following image, which has already caused numerous heart-attacks among Miss Coyle's fans. How thrilling to see the dress define her hips so unapologetically, and to highlight an even more sensual characteristic, the swell of her curvy abdomen. The modern media has brainwashed women into feeling apprehensive about these figure features, but Charlotte demonstrates that they are the most seductive attributes that a goddess can possess.

As evidenced by her selection of Charlotte to be her model, Monif C. clearly appreciates the beauty of the fuller female figure. Her designs define and showcase the wearer's curves, whether the garments wrap close to the body, as do the above outfits, or daringly exhibit a generous expanse of the model's bare figure, as seen below. These styles are for women who love their bodies--as well they should, especially if they are as buxom as Charlotte. (Note how her clavicle is submerged in soft fullness.)

Facially, the most beautiful image in this amazing campaign is the following, which finds Charlotte giving the camera a steamy-eyed look. Her hair, alluringly tousled, suggests the model's wilder, more passionate side.

What makes Charlotte such an exciting model is how supremely confident she is with her figure. Here she displays her curvy abdomen proudly, knowing that it only makes her more alluring. Her every image challenges viewers to acknowledge the superior beauty of a true plus-size model.

The following image unfortunately suggests a bit of compression at the waist (whereas Charlotte's curvaceous midriff needs no diminishment), but the styling is exceptional, with the gold necklace drawing attention to her buxom curves, which the outfit so seductively displays. The model's pose and expression intensify the allure, as does the silhouette of her rounded hips.

Seeing Charlotte in this hot-pink dress immediately reminds the viewer of her revolutionary campaign for Torrid several seasons ago, in which she redefined the limits of sensuality for plus-size models. It's thrilling to see Charlotte bringing that degree of seductiveness to this promotion as well.

Even when Charlotte adopts a more demure pose, as she does here, she still injects a hint of wickedness in her eyes. She may look like an angel, with her fair hair and blue eyes, but one always sense the wildly appetitive nature that lurks beneath.

Another aspect of Monif C.'s designs that makes them particularly appealing to full-figured goddesses is their abbreviated length. Voluptuous vixens invariably have gorgeous legs, as Charlotte does, and the Monif C. dresses frame them beautifully.

Of course, Miss Coyle can also be elegant when the occasion demands, as we see in the following image. Here she allows the dress (and her figure) to arrest the viewer's senses, while she stands with a degree of well-justified confidence bordering on vanity, soaking in the admiration.

However, when modelling a dress that is a shade more concealing, Charlotte can intensify her seductiveness to rivet the viewer's attention. This rapacious expression, with naked hunger in the model's eyes, is utterly captivating. The gesture of the hand plunging into the tresses is an overwhelmingly alluring touch.

But then, when modelling a more casual style, Charlotte can relax and take on an easygoing air, allowing the cut of the dress--with its plunging neckline--to mesmerize the viewer. The designer's appreciation of a true woman's curves and how to accentuate them is evident in each of her outfits.

Bravo to Monif C. for enlisting the services of a genuinely full-figured model (currently listed as a size 16/18 on the Wilhelmina NY site, making her by far Wilhelmina's most beautiful and curvaceous talent). Her figure-embracing garments wouldn't look nearly as good on a faux-plus girl. And Charlotte demonstrates once again her singular facility for projecting high-temperature sensuality, far beyond what one sees in most plus-size campaigns.

Hopefully this promotion will be a clarion call to the industry, showing them the types of images (and models) that the public is asking to see. Until such enlightenment occurs, it will be visionaries such as Monif C. who point the way forward to the restoration of timeless beauty.

What a coincidence--I was recently wondering where Charlotte had gone and if she was still modelling. Looks like she's back and better than ever.

Charlotte looks stunning in these images. I've been hoping to see her in more promos ever since her famous Torrid campaign came out, which I still consider one of the most exciting shoots that any curvaceous model has ever participated in - ever. And the Monif C. styles look terrific on her!

This new campaign is a shot across the bow of the plus-size industry. It defies the faux-plus mindset and does what the full-figured fashion industry should be doing, which is to show curvier women that they look better than their underweight sisters. It accomplishes this because Charlotte is authentically plus, and she is indisputably sexy. And the dresses accentuate this fact.

I hope this is the beginning of many more campaigns featuring Charlotte. Monif C. instantly becomes one of my favorite designers, for putting forth such size-celebratory images.

I love Charlotte Coyle. Not only is she beautiful but she is fearless and unafraid to be sensual and proud of her womanly curves. One of the best spokesmodels out there for full figured women and girls. Unlike some, she has not succumbed to the pressure of the thin/starvation industry.

These dresses are gorgeous on a full figured woman because they accentuate and conform to the contours of wide hips, full waists, full bottoms and show off rounded arms. The colors are bold and vibrant. Never before have full figured women had such wonderful choices in fashion!

Hear, hear. Who can forget Charlotte's empowering Beauty Reborn documentary that aired across Britain a couple of season ago? Any time she appears in an ad campaign she strikes a blow for every full-figured woman by defying the anti-size prejudice that exists even within the plus-size industry.

Models of Charlotte's proportions and Charlotte's beauty are exactly what women everywhere have been longing to see represent them. Not the faux-plus types who look basically like straight-size models; no, models with real womanly curves. And not models who look frumpy or mantronly, but models who look young and unabashedly sexy. And those Monif C. designs show all woman that they should be proud of the way they look.

I love this shot of Charlotte in pink:

How thrilling to see Charlotte back, looking as curvy and alluring as ever. She has a look that everyone has to admit is eye-scorchingly "hot"- and it's SO important for curvy girls to see that images of themselves, to see just how desirable they can be at any size, without losing a pound.

I especially like the dresses that are closely fitted, or wrap near to the figure. And yes, it's especially nice to see higher hemlines!

Just as Kelsey's Alfred Angelo work was the top campaign of the spring season, so is this new promotion from Charlotte the top campaign of summer '09.

I agree with Kaitlynn 100% about the importance of us curvy girls seeing positive images of ourselves in these wonderful pictorials! The messages we get from the media are quite the opposite. We are constantly bombarded with magazines touting the latest diets. I am so grateful for this website, the only one of its kind I have seen. It's wonderful to see pictures of truly curvy, sexy, voluptuous women. We are beautiful, and its nice to have a place where we can celebrate and revel in our beauty.

I saw these images and understand where the heart attack comes in - my heart was attacked all right, but in the nicest way possible. Ms. Coyle surely defines the ideal of Timeless Beauty, and may this campaign awaken others to embrace their curves - both individuals and marketers of plus size fashion.

On a side note, I was at the mall last week. As I looked around at the shoppers, I was struck by how many of them - certainly a majority - were indeed full figured (and beautiful). But what struck me more was that by far the majority of the stores in the mall did not cater to them!

This has long been a problem for full figured women but fortunately these days we don't have to take this sitting down anymore. The Internet has opened up a whole new wardrobe of clothing choices. I for one have acquired some wonderful and fashionable dresses and blouses in my size over the past few years, thanks to this site! I get many compliments on them too!

I found one more image on the Monif C. site that hasn't been posted yet, with Charlotte looking stunning in white.
Charlotte fans will not want to miss the new Monif C. cover image, featuring an even better selection of Miss Coyle's images from this exciting campaign.

Charlotte looks so buxom, so well-fed, so utterly gorgeous in these images. This is without a doubt one of the most thrilling promotions that any plus-size retailer has ever created--and all because the model is lusciously proportioned, stunningly beautiful, and can pose in an heart-stoppingly seductive manner. And the dresses look like they were tailor-made to showcase true plus-size beauty.

There are no superlative sufficient to praise this campaign as much as it deserves. This is what other companies miss when they default to the use of mere faux-plus models. But Monif C. vividly demonstrates the ideal approach.

I found a pretty good interview with the designer, Monif C., at the following page:

Best of all, it comes with an image of Charlotte from this campaign. That is the best possible argument in favour of MonifC clothing.

Her answers to the interviewer's questions are wonderfully positive:

[Monif C] is my clothing line for plus size women, who want to show off their curves and look good doing it.

I knew though if I could find a cluster of women like me who feel comfortable about themselves and have too much on their social calendar to worry about silly things like losing weight to fit society’s standards, Monif C. would be successful and it has been!

The women who buy Monif C clothes want to embrace and show off their curves. We are not about hiding that beauty, we want to show that plus size women look just as fabulous as [NOTE: Better to say "more fabulous than"] their “skinny” counterparts if they are given the clothes to express their creativity and personalities

Q: I notice you do dresses only, why no pant outfits?
A: I find that dresses are flattering on all shapes and sizes. With options like my Marilyn Convertible dress, women of all shapes and sizes can find a look that they love. I also find dresses to be extremely comfortable; I feel very restricted in jeans and pants.

Q: If you could say one thing to the plus size women who are reading this interview and feeling not so good about themselves because of their weight what would it be?
A: I would say to get out and enjoy themselves. I hate when I hear women...who limited themselves by saying they won’t go here until they lose weight...or they won’t wear a sleeveless dress or something like that. It’s really sad and I always say if my life, God forbid, ended tomorrow, I want to be able to say I did everything I ever wanted to do and enjoyed every minute. So get out there and have fun...You only get to live it once, and there’s no use in spending any of that time down on yourself.
Charlotte definitely embodies that upbeat, pro-curvy spirit!
