View Full Version : Katherine: Face of an angel

<br>Ever since the lovely Katherine Roll <a href="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/board/showthread.php?t=1568" target="_blank">captivated</a> the world at Full-Figure Fashion Week, fans have been clamouring to see high-quality fashion stills of this breathtaking young goddess. And now, at least, we have just such an image to share.

Incredible, isn't she? This is one of the loveliest headshots that we have ever seen, and an exemplary display of feminine softness. Katherine's facial features are ideal--displaying the perfect mix of well-fed fullness <i>and</I> exquisite bone structure underneath, yielding doll-like cheekbones that are as beautiful as if they were shaped by the hand of a Classical sculptor.

Her mouth is finely contoured, injecting an element of delicacy into the picture. The complexion is fair and flawless. The eyes, as deep blue as the sea, are gentle yet knowing, communicating the model's intelligence and personality in a way that is engaging but not aggressive. The pose is graceful and poetic, with the model's hand resting gently against her neck.

The expanse of Katherine's bare neck and shoulders is dizzyingly sensual, the clavicle wholly submerged in soft fullness. And although fans prefer Katherine with longer tresses, the hairstyle is very becoming--the braid in the front being a particularly captivating feature, framing her angelic visage and adding a folkoric touch to the look. That girlish braid reinforces the Old World quality of Katherine's beauty (even as the accessories and clothing are demonstrably contemporary). <p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/test01.jpg"></center><p>In terms of sheer beauty, Katherine is the equal of any model working today, but this image also demonstrates her extraordinary modelling talent. Calm, soft, yet with a direct gaze that both invites and involves, she is mesmerizing. Coupling an irresistibly babylike look with complete self-assurance and vivid presence, she is the industry's most promising recent discovery, and its most exciting rising star.

Oh, goodness, what a beautiful shot! I adored the images of Katherine from FFFWeek particularly because of her voluptuous figure - one of the most curvaceous and attractive figures of any plus-size model I've ever seen. But this picture shows what an extraordinarily lovely face she has as well.

And what the quote above says is true - the secret to the beauty of Katherine's face, and that of the most popular plus-size models, is the ideal mixture of fullness and feminine bone structure underneath. Bone structure alone, with no fullness, would lead to a harsh look, so the softness absolutely needs to be there. But the cheekbones need to be there underneath too, for the softness to be able to form a pleasing, apple-cheeked look. (Think of Shannon Marie's perfect face, which always had lovely rounded cheeks, but became even more beautiful as she became fuller-figured.)

Katherine reminds me a bit of Christina Schmidt. They both have a babylike quality to their features that's so pretty. Very effective pose and expression from Katherine too.

What an incredible beauty - perfect face, and as the FFFWeek photos shows, perfect figure.

The plus-size industry desperately needs to feature models like Katherine more often - someone who is chic, fashionable, and unapologetically gorgeous. Many people who resist full-figured beauty would be compelled to change their tune if Katherine's gorgeous image was what defined the concept of "plus-size model" to them, rather than the frumpy stereotypes that Hollywood continues to perpetuate.

For some reason my free association upon seeing this lovely image of Katherine was "a full figured Grace Kelly." I think she has a somewhat aristocratic look -- but not too much, like she is the free thinking and maybe a bit rebellious royal daughter.

<br>Aficionados of timeless beauty will be thrilled to see several more images from this exciting test. Although one might have wished for different wardrobe styling, Katherine's beauty is so stunning that every image stops the heart.

Most thrilling of all this is full-length, which showcases the model's full, shapely arms. Fans who have been honouring Katherine for having one of the best figures of any model working today will find their praise fully justified by this image. Although the top is a tad loose, note that it shows off the swell of her gorgeous waist. The pose is extraordinarily graceful, with Katherine's fingers resting gently on her neck, in a move that adds delicacy to the image, while the slightly kicked-up leg is coy and feminine. Although one would have preferred a skirt to the loose slacks, some high points of the styling include the bracelets and decorative necklaces--the shorter necklace drawing attention to the model's dazzling neck-and-shoulder area. But above all, it is the round beauty of Katherine's luscious arms that commands the viewer's attention.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/test02.jpg"></center><p>A head-on shot displays the allure of Katherine's facial features. She possesses stunning cheekbones, to be sure, but what makes the face so lovely is the visible fullness in it; with even a shade less softness, the features would not be as angelic and flawless as they are. The parted lips and ever-so-slightly lidded eyes make the expression highly sensual, but in a gentle rather than carnal manner. One senses an appetitive nature in the model, but one that is calm and languorous rather than aggressive. The placement of the hands is inexpressibly elegant--the model seems to be luxuriating in her own beauty. Her neck is soft and full, and the entire shoulder area is as smooth as that of a Classical sculpture, unblemished by any trace of a clavicle. She is a mature woman, but her features also have a babylike quality about them that greatly increases her attractiveness.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/test04.jpg"></center><p>A side view is reminiscent of the first headshot posted in this thread, however this image is far more seductive, for one sees here a sensual curve at the model's neck. Katherine gives the appealing impression of someone who loves displaying her beauty, who adores being photographed--and viewers cannot help but respond to that quality, and share the model's delight in her own appearance. Her fair complexion is flawless, her azure eyes placid and soothing.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/test03.jpg"></center><p>This image shows a more easygoing side of the model. Note the clever wardrobe touch--by opening up the shirt to offer a glimpse of the model's decolletage, this casual look is invigorated, and becomes supremely eye-catching. Observe further a particularly seductive detail--how the material is pulling at the top fastened button, as if it can barely close. Again, a subtle element such as this can turn an ordinary ensemble into an extraordinary look--provided, of course, that the model wearing it is as shapely as Katherine.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/test05.jpg"></center><p>And finally, a full-length in this outfit provides more evidence of Katherine's gorgeous figure. The curve-accentuating pose is confident and dramatic--and one <i>loves</I> the fact that she wears a miniskirt. The principal benefit that models' tests can yield is to show full-figured women that they can opt for figure-baring clothing, such as abbreviated skirts and sleeveless tops--because soft, full limbs are the greatest fashion accessories of all.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/test06.jpg"></center><p>These images further testify to Katherine's captivating beauty and exceptional modelling talent. Fans continue to prefer the model with longer hair, but she possesses one of the loveliest faces and most curvaceous figures of any model in the industry.

We eagerly look forward to her future campaigns.

(Incidentally, like many great models, Katherine is an accomplished makeup artist as well. Her proficiency goes beyond that of the mere dilettante, though, as she is a <i>professional</I> MUA. We have seen some of her work--and it is exceptional. Highly recommended.)

Katherine is so beautiful. She takes my breath away. I agree that she looked even more gorgeous with longer hair, but no matter what, she is one of the loveliest plus-size models ever. "Face of an angel, figure of a goddess"- both descriptions are so very true. And her poses are artful and graceful.

I can't even begin to express how excited I am to see a model who is genuinely curvaceous making headway in the industry. I'm so tired of faux-plus models, as most curvy women are. I hope to see much more of Katherine in future campaigns. I'd gladly buy clothing from any client who would use her. She is a perfect representative of today's voluptuous vixens.

All of the pictures are attractive, but I really like the first full-length picture, above, with Katherine holding the post. As for the wardrobe styling, I think we've all been spoiled by the gorgeous light-blue dress that Katherine wore in FFFWeek, as well as the stunning white gown that she wore in that show. (Models don't get to display pieces like that every day!)

But I really like her top in the full-length image. And I adore her shapeliness. She looks so comfortable with her body. She truly inspires me. I hope she never diminishes herself, but keeps those goddesslike curves. Everything would look great on her stunning figure. She makes these outfits look terrific, which a faux-plus model never could.

<br>Readers clamouring for more full-figured models in general (and for Katherine Roll in particular) will be delighted to see three further images from her accomplished recent test.

First, here is another lovely installment in Miss Roll's headshot series. A comparison of this image with the previous three demonstrates how a skillful model like Katherine can completely alter the mood of a picture, just by varying her expressions. This is her softest look--a faraway gaze that captures a touch of childlike wonder, but also effectively displays her dreamy blue eyes. It may be the loveliest photograph in the entire group.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/test09.jpg"></center><p>Another view of Katherine in her white outfit is even more curve-accentuating than the previous snapshot, as it shows the model adopting a classic hand-on-the-hip pose that effectively displays the womanly outlines of her figure. Aficionados of timeless beauty will also notice an intensely sensual physical attribute--the dimples at the model's knuckles. The only other plus-size model known to possess this irresistible characteristic is Kelsey Olson. This feature--so frequently celebrated in Renaissance art--testifies to the intoxicating softness of the model's physique, and greatly increases her allure.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/test08.jpg"></center><p>The final image is the most dramatic in the entire series. It may be even more sensual than the full-length posted above. Look at how proudly Katherine exhibits her soft, curvy figure, deliberately presenting herself in a way that is sure to make viewers' hearts race. This is the pose of a true goddess, one who knows just how irresistible she is, and how desirable her curves make her. Most exciting of all is the unabashedly hungry look in the model's eyes--the gaze of a tigress, rapacious and insatiable, slow and seductive in her movements, whose beauty is so irresistible as to make her prey come to <i>her.</I> The wardrobe styling is a perfect blend of glamour and sensuality--the lacy material and extravagant jewellery suiting the opulence of the model's figure, and the close fit defining every her sinful curve. Even the jacket, slung over the shoulder, is an interesting element, as it creates in the viewer an overpowering desire to see the garment removed, so that the model's gorgeous arms would be displayed in all of their glory.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/test07.jpg"></center><p>Similarly, the "measured messiness" of the model's hairstyle enhances the sumptuousness of her look, recalling as it does some of the extravagant updos worn by Lillian Russell, whom Katherine resembles in face and figure. Notice too how Miss Roll's wardrobe somewhat resembles Lillian's, from the pearl necklace to the wide-open neckline--a cut that displays both models' gorgeous shoulder areas, with clavicles submerged in flesh.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/lillian/lil89.jpg"></center><p>Perceptive viewers may even notice the ornate bridge in the background of Katherine's photo, and identify it as the same structure that appears in one of Whitney Thompon's memorable CoverGirl commercials.<p><center><img src="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/wt/cg10/cap029.jpg"></center><p>In the midst of all of the images of faux-plus models that have recently proliferated in the media, seeing stylish, fashionable pictures of a gorgeous and genuinely curvaceous goddess is a breath of fresh air. These pictures are sure to make fans even <i>more</i> eager for the debut of Miss Roll's first commercial print campaign.

Stay tuned . . .

Ive been loving this entire series, but my favorite is definitely the last picture - the one showing Katherine in the lace top. Everything about that image is stunning, from the bold way in which Katherine is posing to the feminine, figure-baring top. Its a picture that says, "THIS is what the ideal womanly body should look like" - which is 100% true.

Katherine gives off the exciting vibe that she has even more self-assurance in her stunning figure than any waif has in her bony frame. And that level of self-satisfaction is a quality that plussize models need to possess, if theyre going to change the fashion industry.
