Beautiful as the Aurora Formals 2010 campaign may be, Formal Source (which is the company that produces the AF line) has released two separate bridal ranges called "Aurora d'Paradiso" and "Kellan J" concurrently with its prom offerings, and the images showcasing these wedding fashions are possibly even more gorgeous than the promwear pictures.

First, we will discuss Katherine's photos, because they rival Kelsey Olson's shoot for Alfred Angelo as the most eye-catching bridal images of all time.

Only three of the Aurora d'Paradiso photographs show Miss Roll with her long, princess-like tresses, but oh, those pictures are miraculous. Indeed, the following may be the most perfect photo in either campaign, prom or bridal. Katherine indisputably has the most gorgeous arms of any plus-size model working today--round and untoned, naturally formed by soft fullness into a luscious shape. The thick, heavy curls flowing down her back complement her opulent look. Her facial features benefit from high cheekbones, but she also possesses the fullness in the face that is the epitome of true beauty. Unlike the prom campaign, which largely shows the model with a sunny disposition, this bridal shoot features many remarkable examples of Katherine's emotional range. Here, she adopts the most seductive expression of all, a come-hither look that signals appetitive desire. This picture is the very definition of beauty.

In the next image, the model coquettishly plays with her tresses, and glances to the side in a winsome, feminine manner. Observe her adorable cheekbones, softened by the richness of her facial features. For all of her robustness, Katherine also has the ability to appear delicate and girlish. And of course, such a demeanour is perfectly suited to this gown, which, with its decorative neckline, has a Victorian quality. Miss Roll epitomizes the well-fed, fair angel of Victorian dreams (an ideal that still resides deep in the human heart, however much the media may pretend otherwise).

Note the seductive curve under the model's chin in this picture. Remarkably, she presents completely different demeanours in each of the three images of this gown, each look giving the dress a unique character--and appealing to different potential customers. Here, she seems fun-loving, playful, and hearty, with her round, shapely arms.

Another eye-catching picture of Katherine from the reverse view shows her grabbing at the walls of the set. This is a brilliant and original pose, one which infuses the image with tremendous excitement. This clutching motion involves the viewer in the picture, thrilling him at the prospect of the model's wild, passionate nature. The sight of a bride so positioned would compel any groom to embrace his beloved. Katherine's arms are Classically rounded, and no sight could be more sensual than that of the soft curves along her back escaping over the lip of her dress.

Once again, the model effortlessly alters her demeanour for the frontal shot, presenting a wholly different impression of a bride--one who is sweet, gentle, and pretty, yet still intoxicatingly sensual, particularly in the curves at her neck, and in the fullness of her limbs. Longer hair is, of course, much preferable, but this shorter style is becoming too, if only because Katherine is so lovely that she can succeed with any look. Her complexion is a naturally fair shade--not an artificial pallor, but the flushed skin of a red-blooded girl, at once angelic and fleshy, celestial and hale.

Katherine's timeless beauty is matched by the loveliness of this gown, which is the most Victorian and ornate of the Aurora d'Paradiso offerings, right down to the colour being an eggshell hue rather than a modern, bleached white. The embroidery and opulence of the dress suits Miss Roll perfectly, given the well-fed affluence of her look.

In every set of images (three per dress), it is the reverse-view picture that catches the eye first. What makes the following photograph especially stunning is how conscious Katherine appears to be of her own beauty--particularly, of the beauty of her arms. She displays them to the viewer as if they were the priceless limbs of a Classical sculpture (which they certainly could be), even gently caressing one arm with her hand, thereby inflaming the viewer's desire for similar tactile engagement. Her look seems irresistibly vulnerable and needy--expressing a yearning for non-stop praise and worship, for the endless adoration that her groom would eagerly offer. The dress is cut alluringly low, offering a dizzying view of the model's gorgeous back, even the heady detail of the soft curves swelling over the edge of the dress. No other type of apparel, not swimwear, lingerie, or midriff-baring top, could be half as seductive as this elegant gown on such a lusciously proportioned model.

For the front view, Katherine creates a different persona--this time, that of a warm, approachable bride, a soft, nurturing being with whom one associates home and hearth. Consider the sensual smoothness of the neck and shoulder area, with the clavicle wholly submerged in soft fullness. And on her left hand, notice the irresistibly sensual detail of dimples at the knuckles--a feature seen in many Titian masterpieces.

When men fantasize about what their ideal brides might look like, the images invariably resemble Katherine--curvy, confident, and beautiful, and adorned in a dress just such as this.

The following image offers perhaps the most alluring view of all of the model's back, with the soft curves swelling over the dress in a dizzyingly sensual manner. She stands impassively calm and regal, as solid as a Classical sculpture--yet her sumptuous limbs suggest a flesh-and-blood warmth that even the most finely wrought marble lacks. She seems to pause deliberately, holding her pose (knowing that all eyes are fixed upon her), allowing her admirers to drink in the sight of her beauty. Again, the model demonstrates why the low-back style is the most seductive of all for curvy brides, for any groom seeing the sight of his beloved's generous curves displayed in this manner would have his heart ensnared by her forever.

In the case of this dress, the front-view image is every bit as breathtaking as the reverse. The ruched design holds the model's figure in a loving embrace, lingering over every curve. One senses the lavish weight of the model's figure, how replete she is. The wrap just under the hips is a stunning detail, emphasizing the model's womanly proportions. And the embroidery at the bottom adds to the luxuriance of the gown. No faux-plus model could ever make this dress look half as good, for only a goddess as shapely as Katherine could offer such an impression of aristocratic abundance.

The close-up is the same image as above, just tightly cropped--and the duplication is understandable, for a picture as breathtaking as this deserves to be seen from multiple perspectives, just as a great painting must be admired from afar and up close. Katherine appears especially buxom here, the design of the gown drawing attention to her voluptuous curves.

Another picture that intimates the model's buxom charms is the following, in which (unlike the other reverse-view photos) Katherine appears warm and inviting. Notice the adorable curve under her chin, and her round, lovely arms.

Katherine's persona in the following image is that of a more easygoing bride, one who simply loves pleasure, and is herself a source of joy and delight. As always, the model's self-presentation is perfectly matched to the dress, which is slightly more demure and comfortable (yet still enticing) than the dramatically sensual gowns seen earlier.

Here, she appears angelic and innocent, verily a child-bride. The light seemingly bathes her in a celestial radiance, like the heavenly beams that illuminate the face of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Catholic iconography.

This dramatic pose shows the model gazing intently off to one side, her upturned glance presenting an artistic view of the flawless profile of her face, neck, and shoulders, as well as of her sumptuous arms. Miss Roll has an arresting manner of posing as if she were lost in thought, yet consciously and deliberately providing the viewer the most striking views of her beauty. Her undisguised vanity increases her allure still further.

But Katherine never lingers on one expression, instead offering multiple perspectives. From the previous, very formal stance, she switches into this, the most casual image of the campaign, personifying a playful bride who can't wait to just kick back after the ceremony is over.

Notice how relaxed Miss Roll appears in every dress. This is the hallmark of a great model--that she can make even the most formal gown look as comfortable as a flannel nightshirt. The fullness of her arms is intoxicating.

Observe how a shapely goddess can transform a dress into an object of overwhelming allure, with the model's reverse-view curves forming this gown into a va-va-va-voom shape. The ideal wedding dress combines refined elegance with carnal seductiveness, and while each Formal Source gown fits both requirements, it is Katherine's luscious figure that illustrates these qualities.

A closer view shows the gown's attractive, embroidered ornamentation. The cut of the bustier is highly appealing, with the straps narrowing in a tantalizing manner, offering a glimpse of decolletage. The model's neck-and-shoulder area is as finely formed by soft fullness as if a Baroque artist had painted her to be a representation of Venus herself.

This campaign is easily one of year's best, from any model, in any genre. Between her prom work and her bridal pictures, Katherine Roll has made a stunning print debut. She is one of the industry's most exciting rising stars, possessing every quality that one could ever ask for in a plus-size model: gorgeous, legitimately full-figured, and with a brilliant posing technique. We eagerly hope to see more of her work in the near future.

Bravo to Formal Source for hiring her, for shooting her in a size-positive manner, and for creating such lovely gowns--designs that could make any curvy girl feel like a goddess, on her wedding day.

I'm an avid lover of bridal magazines, but much as I admire their layouts for their locations and settings, I've never seen any model in any bridal mag look anywhere near as gorgeous as Katherine. She truly is an angel -- the perfect image of a bride on her wedding day. I adored her prom pictures too, adored them, but as a bride she is even lovelier. The bridal aesthetic is one of full-blown allure, the ultimate fantasy of beauty, and Katherine embodies that vision to a T. Her look is both timeless and contemporary. Her round facial features have an Old World aspect, but her lively expressions identify her as a young woman of today.

No question about it, though -- pretty as she is with any hairstyle, the longer tresses transform her, and raise her beauty to another level. That's why the first picture is such a masterpiece: the heavy, princess-like locks complete her look. I hope she grows out her hair to this length for her next campaign.

I just pray that she keeps her gorgeous curves. Whenever anyone asks what kind of plus-size models the public wants to see when we complain about underweight faux-plus models, we can point to Kelsey, Katherine, Charlotte Coyle, etc., and say, "These girls represent us, by being both the loveliest of plus-size models, and the curviest."

Singled out for praise:

Absolutely stunning.

Why aren't there any magazines with images like this? If there were, I guarantee you that people would buy them.

I am really encouraged by seeing these amazing pictures of Katherine, as I was by the recent images of the model for Voluptuous Clothing. Finally, some genuinely full-figured models who are my age! It's such a joy to have models I can relate to. I've always seen Kelsey and Christina Schmidt as my aspirational ideals, as they're honestly curvy, and now Katherine inspires me so much too.

I dream of a world where I'd be able to see models like these on every billboard and magazine cover. It breaks my heart that 100 years ago, that would have been the case, and someone like Kelsey or Katherine would have been like Lillian Russell, universally renowned for being the ideal of beauty. Why can't we have that world back?

Katherine Roll is an ideal plus-size model. She is visibly full-figured; she is soft, like most women; and she is beautiful. Perhaps if women start seeing plus-size models who look like plus-size dreams, they'd start to believe in and celebrate their own beauty.

I remember when I first saw her in pictures from Full-Figured Fashion Week. I remember thinking 'I wonder how long it will take until she is doing major campaigns that will end up on this forum'. It was apparently sooner than I thought. Bravo for posting campaigns featuring this new exciting talent. Katherine Roll is so gorgeous.
