View Full Version : Melissa - Quest TV commercial model

A number of forums devoted to curvier celebrities often engage in "If only they were plus-size" speculation, where they identify actresses or models who would look gorgeous, if they were fuller figured.

I realize that this forum generally avoids such a practice, but perhaps an exception could be made in this case. The performer in this TV commercial truly has the most gorgeous facial features of any actress I've ever seen. I mean, she almost rivals Shannon Marie -- no exaggeration. Also, although her figure is painfully skinny, her facial features are round and soft, almost full, so if there was ever a case where a potentially pretty actress actually could conceivably blossom into a genuinely curvaceous goddess, this is it.

Here's the ad. It's for one of those "personal" chat lines. (I know -- *groan*. What can you do? I'm sure that the model thought, "Hey, a gig is a gig.") But seeing is believing:

As I said, the figure is terribly underweight, but her face is one of best examples I've ever seen of timeless beauty.

If only she would become curvy...
The actress's figure is painfully skinny--no one can even pretend that she is faux-plus--but the face is breathtaking. When one speaks of the beauty of round facial features, this is what one has in mind.

Her fair tresses confirm her as a Nordic beauty, yet there is something of Lindsey Garbelman in her smile.

She also clearly has a mischievous quality, as indicated by the clever way in which the commercial begins--as if she is about to impart a secret to the viewer.

Alas, as soon as the camera pulls back, one sees how regrettably thin she is. Nevertheless, the eye is always drawn to that heavenly face. She seems to be a living doll, a quality that only the most gorgeous of all plus-size models, like Shannon Marie and Kelsey Olson, can evoke.

And yet, underweight though she certainly is, when she adopts her poochy, pouty smile, there is something more to the lovely roundness of her face than just bone structure. One perceives just a hint of sensual weight at the jawline, something that gives her facial features the quality of timeless beauty, and offers the possibility that her natural body type would incline her toward greater fullness than she now possesses.

While her figure is slim, it does at least appear to be soft rather than hard. Yes, perhaps this is all wishful thinking, a wilful distortion of regrettable reality occasioned by her charming demeanour, which is so soft and gentle, so seemingly sweet--again, a quality that only the greatest plus-size models can evoke.

Her voice, too, is enchantingly soft and feminine, which is another quality that the most gorgeous plus-size models possess. (Think of ChloŽ Agnew and Kailee O'Sullivan, both pure, high sopranos.) Such an adorably girlish voice is concomitant with a soft, full figure. Both are indicators of the thoroughgoing femininity of damsel in question (which those who favour physiological explanations for everything would attribute to high estrogen). Literally and figuratively, these fair princesses are more feminine than their androgynous rivals.

There it is again--a trace of sensual fullness in the model's face, beyond even her perfect natural roundness. Whether this suggests that she will blossom into a more curvaceous form or not, the visible weight in the face is indisputably the key component of her facial beauty--a fact that plus-size goddesses should keep in mind.

Indeed, if we brighten one particular screen capture, we even see an unmistakable curve under her chin, which is the most gorgeous facial feature of all.

Regrettably, every figure shot in the commercial confirms the emaciation of her frame. But at least she exhibits a trace of a bust, which is something that models who are genuinely a size 0 lack completely. Even former plus-size models who go down in size lose all semblance of buxom curves. So there is a bit more to this girl than the standard runway waif.

Whether she ever does gain a curvy figure or not, this Quest model must be acknowledged to have surpassingly attractive facial features. She is probably the first mere straight-size model since Carrie Tivador, several years ago, who has been singled out for praise on this site (Doutzen Kroes notwithstanding). Don't fail to notice how much her beauty is enhanced by her princess-like hairstyle, which epitomizes "voluptuous volume," and would be a perfect hairstyling choice for any plus-size goddess.

If nothing else, any plus-size agent who is looking for models to represent should simply look at this girl and use her enchanting face as a guide, thinking "I want to sign models like her, but in a size 14 or better."
