Located in the evergreen territory of Connecticut, Sassy Mouth Photography does a brisk trade in wedding photography (because after all, who wouldn't wish to get married in New England?) Sassy's Marisa Balletti-Lavoie also produces beautiful test photography for models--particularly plus-size models.

Why this is germane to our forum is because just last week, the model on the other end of the Sassy lens was none other than sumptuous size-18 goddess Katherine Roll.

Needless to say, the world eagerly awaits the results of this shoot. But although the comprehensive exhibition remain forthcoming, tonight we can treat fans to a first sneak peek.

Be warned, however: this is such a tantalizing tease that it will leave you begging for more.

Katherine is never so beautiful as when her hair cascades in long, golden waves over her shoulders, as it does here--tresses as relaxed and luxuriant as the model herself. Her expression is captivating: a mixture of wonder and insight, two qualities that are rarely if ever melded into a single look. With her fair complexion, she is as fresh as the dawn. In her finest images, of which this is one, she exhibits the babylike softness of a newborn, yet alongside this delicacy there is a rich substantiality about her, a sheer physical presence that is deeply alluring. The open neckline is a subtly sensual touch, suggesting much, yet revealing . . . only a promise.

Of course, part of what makes the image so lovely, besides Katherine's own dazzling beauty, is the wardrobe. We have it on good authority that this look comprises
a cream-colored lace mini skirt, lace sleeveless button-up shirt, cream-colored tank, and nude heels.(Goodness, how did that happen? The word "sleeveless" was somehow formatted in bold in the above quote.)

The ensemble sounds as delicious as the richest confection. We cannot even begin to imagine how gorgeous the three-quarter and full-length views of this outfit might be.

Alas, though, for now, "imagine" is all that fans will be able to do. But hopefully, more masterpieces from this shoot will be forthcoming. Of this we can be sure: No faux-plus waif, nor even a mere size-14 model, could ever look as breathtaking even in a headshot as Katherine does here.

Nor nearly as sassy.

Be warned, however: this is such a tantalizing tease that it will leave you begging for more.
Consider me one of the people so teased. How long must we wait? I am eager to see more from this shoot. Ivory lace is so feminine - a perfect choice for Katherine. And sleeveless? On plus-size goddesses, who have rounded arms, sleeveless is a must. It should be mandatory!

I cannot wait to see more...
At last, Sassy Mouth Photography has released a host of further images from its highly anticipated shoot with Katherine Roll, and the results will surpass even fans' most ardent hopes.

Most thrilling of all--and the very thought of this will make every viewer's heart race--one of the looks that Katherine shot with Marisa was . . . swimwear.

That's right. This thread will demonstrate what an opulent, size-18 goddess looks like . . . in swimwear.

The results are even more spectacular than anyone could have imagined. In the first example, below, Katherine's pose is that of an '80s supermodel from Sports Illustrated. But not even Kim Alexis or Christie Brinkley in their heyday could hold a candle to Katherine's loveliness. She stands proud and confident, feeling the authority of her magnificent beauty. Her golden tresses fall over her shoulders in thick waves. Her baby-blue eyes play off against her pink lips and fair complexion. The swimsuit embraces every inch of her luscious figure, holding it in a loving embrace. But most exciting of all, the cut of the swimsuit discloses Katherine's most gorgeous figure feature--her womanly 49" hips. Observe how perfectly contoured are the lines of her physique, all thanks to the fact that her nether curves give her the perfect hourglass form.

A closer view shows other gorgeous details, like the sensual hint of a curve under the chin (a supremely alluring facial feature) and the barest hint of textured flesh at the model's hips. Also supremely seductive are the dimples at the model's knuckles. The wardrobe styling is inspired, with the big, round medallion adding a decorative touch. But it is the model's unshakable self-confidence, and, of course, her stunningly curvaceous figure, that establishes this as an ideal plus-size swimwear photo. Just picture this against a tropical setting, and you have the cover page of everyone's long-dreamed-of vision of a plus-size swimwear calendar.

As a special treat for Judgment of Paris readers, we have two more swimwear photos to share. The pictures prove once and for all that no faux-plus waif (let alone any malnourished minus-size skeleton) could come close to exhibiting swimwear as splendidly as Miss Roll. Again, she demonstrates her complete command of the situation, in a pose that would put any Baywatch vixen to shame. But this confidence is not forced--rather, it is sincere and natural, for Katherine accurately recognizes the supreme, incomparable attractiveness of her well-fed figure. (If only all curvy girls could acquire such self-assurance.) This picture even improves on the one above, because it boldly showcases Katherine's celebrated arms--so round and luscious and full. In a clever conception, the styling is at once both modest and daring: modest in that the swimsuit is half-covered by a sheath (one that is nevertheless sheer enough to hint at the splendours beneath), yet daring because the model teasingly emphasizes her goddesslike hips. This visual masterpiece offers a complete turn in thinking for full-figured women, because whereas many curvy girls feel needlessly self-conscious about their abundant hips, Katherine subtly and seductively demonstrates that it is in fact the rondeur of her hips that gives her figure such swimwear-perfect proportions. With lesser dimensions, a model's shape would simply be inadequate to create the curvaceous outline that makes Katherine so gorgeous.

The third swimwear photo is more conceptual, showing Miss Roll emerging through draperies (just as her own physique is half-covered, yet half-exposed, in its transparent sheath). The picture offers a narrative suggestion, veritably symbolizing the emerging self-confidence that full-figured girls can develop as they progress from hiding themselves behind flowing draperies to following Katherine's lead and donning seductive swim apparel.

Viewers are to be forgiven if Katherine's lavish curves distracts them from countless other subtleties in her images, therefore in this picture it is worth coming in close and focusing on her facial features. The model's face looks especially beautiful here, very soft and full, with a sensual curve under the chin. Her eyes are a blue so delicate as to almost be grey, and the bound hair flowing over one shoulder is a captivating variation on the cascading-tresses look. (This is why all plus-size models should grow out their hair to wondrous lengths--it offers endless visual possibilities.)

Few would believe that Miss Roll might don an outfit that would be even more size-celebratory than swimwear, but the next set of pictures demonstrate just that. They show the much-anticipated lace ensemble that appeared in the preview picture in the initial post. The effect of seeing sumptuously proportioned Katherine in such a delicate, figure-baring outfit is overwhelmingly alluring.

The following photograph in particular is the finest of the entire shoot. Not only does it celebrate the model's generous arms, but her eye-catching pose even hints at the soft fullness of her legs--perhaps the most beautifully shaped limbs of any model, equal to the splendours of a Baroque goddess. Lace is intrinsically delicate and romantic, but ivory lace in particular has an almost angelic quality, which suits Katherine perfectly, for although her physique is hale and robust, she has a babylike softness about her. Note in particular the sensual crease of flesh at the model's inner elbow, as her arm presses against her side. Thus, while the exhibition of Katherine's figure is almost risqué, the innocence conveyed by the white lace mitigates this, rendering the effect romantic, almost ethereal. The model's looking-away expression adds to the sensibility, and the blend of effects results in an image with a halcyon, dreamlike quality.

The next pair of images were obviously taken one after another, and a comparison of the two illustrates the change in visual effect that even the subtlest alterations of pose and expression can make.

In the first of the two pictures, Katherine pushes her leg forward, and the viewer cannot help but linger over the contours of her limbs, as beautifully shaped as if a sculptor had formed them out of smooth marble. Like her arms, her legs are rich and full, but without any unattractive muscle tone. If someone were tasked with depicting the ideal plus-size model physique, he would surely use Miss Roll's limbs as a reference.

In the second picture, the model draws back her leg, and while the viewer still admires the lines of her figure, he also now notices the captivating, fun-loving, open-hearted smile that Katherine has adopted. Such joy is infectious, and when mixed with dazzling beauty, it conveys an irresistible ideal: that the size-18 figure that Miss Roll possesses is the epitome of feminine loveliness, and testifies to an existence whereby a girl can eat whatever she wants, and as much as she wants, and can naturally possess a gorgeous, desirable physique. Free of any diet-starvation or exercise-torture, she leads a life of fun and ease and pleasure. Who wouldn't prefer this conception of womanhood to the half-starved, self-deprived androgynous shape that the media inflicts on society?

Further images from this "lace" series capture different moods and sensations, each as fascinating as the next. Katherine's looking-away expressions are uniquely idyllic, and garbed as she is in soft lace and satin, with her skin so delicate and fair, her arms so round and full, the effect is like a fantasy of heaven itself--for surely if angels exist, they resemble this model. The way in which the lace shirt pulls open wide at the neckline, as if it couldn't possible close around the model's voluptuousness, is extremely seductive. Even her hands are delicate and soft.

A warm, gentle smile brings a hypnotic feeling of peace, even as Katherine's golden tresses flow into the foreground of the picture, seemingly so near that one would but need to stretch forth one's fingers to touch them. This is Katherine's most doll-like pose and expression--so absolutely fitting for her attire, which is a successful contemporary update of the kinds of lacy dream-clothes that Victorian girls once wore. The peek at the model's décolletage is quietly flirtatious, and her gaze seems to welcome admiration. She knows the pleasure that the contemplation of her beauty brings to the viewer, and she gladly permits the adoration, basking in it.

The closest view of all shows Miss Roll at her most innocent and girlish, while the glimpse of her buxom curves adds seductive frisson. (Click on the image to see the full view.) A gentle breeze has blown back her tresses, showcasing the round fullness of her facial features. She looks to her side in childlike wonder. Her peaches-and-cream skin is as smooth as porcelain, yet suggests a flesh-and-blood warmth as well.

After such heavenly femininity, viewers surely need to come back down to terra firma, and Katherine takes us there in a brilliantly composed outdoor photograph. She sits on the steps before an Orthodox church--and extending the paradisaical narrative from the previous lace photos, in this picture our seraph has descended to earth, as if in a modern update of the film Date with an Angel. Though dressed in contemporary clothing, she still looks cherubic, and gazes heavenward with a smile of such boundless joy that the heart leaps upon looking at her. The slight swell of fullness at her waist is one of the most seductive physical features in an entire photoshoot distinguished by soft sensuality. The prominent presence of the cornerstone showing the Orthodox cross is a brilliant touch, for not only does it pick up the angel metaphor, but the 1955 date also reminds the viewer than in the decade in which the cornerstone was laid--the decade of Kim Novak and Anita Ekberg--Katherine's luscious figure would have been acclaimed as the epitome of female beauty, even by the media. The blue shoes are an effective styling element, picking up the blue in the model's blouse and adding some colourful zest to the image, which is otherwise dominated by neutrals and ivories. Touches of modelling brilliance on Katherine's part include the way in which she daintily brings together her toes, and the graceful placement of the hands.

Print blouses are a matter of taste, and although some of us would prefer plus-size models to exclusively wear swimwear, lace, ruffles, and bows, the reality is that even goddesses sometimes need to acknowledge present-day trends. Katherine's facial features and golden tresses appear especially beautiful here, with the sunlight bathing her in a golden glow. Notice too the alluring rondeur at her waist, as defined by the blouse. The model's pose? "Effortless beauty" is the phrase that comes to mind--effortless for one as innately gorgeous as she.

For the final wardrobe look of the shoot, we begin with a truly breathtaking headshot--yes, breathtaking even amid a whole series of unforgettable images. Katherine's eyes have a darker, smokier look here, and appropriately, her gaze is languid and passionate, full of voluptuous desire, a glance that would almost be carnal were it not for the fact that her golden tresses ever give her an angelic quality. Her hair flows open, as if deliberately to unveil the full splendour of her face. Her lips are parted in appetitive eagerness. One golden tress strays forward, as if reaching out in invitation to the viewer.

Intriguingly, though, the same outfit that Katherine wore for the high-temperature headshot above is, in fact, a casual ensemble. Casual at least in that it is comfortable daywear, though it is supremely stylish as well. Notice how the slash of the red belt invigorates the look, just as the blue shoes do in the church-step photo, above. The big, gold medallion adds a welcome touch of opulence. The slacks attractively embrace the model's womanly hips and show an alluringly rounded swell at her middle. Her expression is fun-loving, easygoing, and breezy. No other girl, minus-size or plus, could model this outfit as effectively as Miss Roll, because it is the generous contours of her figure, as well as her dazzling beauty, that make it so appealing.

The final image shows more brilliance in the wardrobe choice--and if you are wondering who styled Katherine so effectively for this shoot, we can now acknowledge that it was the model herself who selected the attire. The orange hues are complementary, while the scarf seen in the previous photo binds together the citrus with the red. Nevertheless, no matter how deft the styling may be, in every image in which she appears it is Katherine herself who is always the primary focus. Her heavenward gaze recalls the church-step photo and revisits the angel metaphor that the lace pictures introduced. Her robust physique shapes this outfit into a curvy feminine form. The most sensual detail by far is how closely the slacks fit the model's legs, defining her womanly thighs. A true plus-size goddess such as Katherine can never be rendered androgynous in any outfit; rather, her abundant femininity reveals itself in every photograph, beautifying anything she wears.

As an added bonus, here is a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Miss Roll being made up for the shoot by MUA Tara Abate. It shows the luscious fullness of the model's neck and shoulder area (with nary a trace of a visible clavicle), and a soft curve under her chin. Also, the sheer, boundless delight that radiates from Katherine in this picture is captivating. Like the pure joy of a child, she clearly takes pleasure in seeing her reflection in the mirror--and who, when gazing upon her golden beauty, does not feel equal gladness?

Rumour has it that there may yet be further examples from this shoot--even swimwear photos--which are being held back for an exclusive debut by Katherine's agency, MSA Models. We await any such images with great eagerness.

In the meantime, the pictures that have been released so far confirm this as one of the most exciting test sessions that any model has ever photographed. To see such a gorgeous, size-18 model proudly exhibiting swimwear and demonstrating the superiority of her well-fed beauty to that of any minus-size swim waif is nothing less than a revolution, for no model of lesser dimensions could make swimwear look as good as does Katherine. And then, to see her model such a delicate, ethereal, lacy ensemble and take on the identity of a voluptuous angel is the stuff of heavenly fantasy--the real-world incarnation of an archetype of beauty that we all hold deep in our hearts.

Like no other model in the industry, Katherine surpasses even the most avid expectations of her fans and demonstrates the wonder of timeless beauty. We ardently look forward to her future successes.

I've come back to this thread twice already. The pictures are stunning. From now on, I want every ad or campaign that markets swimwear to curvy women to feature someone with Katherine's curves, and her beauty, and her confidence -- in other words, Katherine herself. Those may be the first swimwear images besides Kelsey's that have truly empowered me. She looks so...indomitable. But not aggressively so; rather, casual, secure in herself, and so, so gorgeous. I am in awe.

It's so true that no lesser model (lesser in curves and lesser in beauty) could make swimwear look this good. Katherine's proportions are flawless; this is the shape of a healthy, flesh-and-blood woman.

In the first swim picture, she looks like she just stepped out of the pool and is ready to jump right back in. I definitely got the Sports Illustrated vibe. In the second photo (my favourite), her self-assurance radiates and makes her look even more breathtaking.

Then, the lingerie pictures truly are a vision of paradise. Lace is quintessentially feminine, and since Katherine is the very definition of femininity, she is the perfect model for this trend. I admire her so much for showcasing her shapely curves in such a sensual yet chic way. Graceful, yet seductive -- she hits both notes at once in a symphony of beauty.

Katherine is the shape of the plus-size industry as it should be -- young, feminine, romantic, curvy, confident, with charisma and energy aplenty. I know that I'll be revisiting this thread time and again for more inspiration.

Pure gorgeousness.

if you are wondering who styled Katherine so effectively for this shoot, we can now acknowledge that it was the model herself who selected the attire.
Then that means that not only is Katherine one of my favourite models, but she is also an amazing styling. I adore that lace outfit. Adore it. It's totally wearable, but it has all the elements of fashion whimsy and imagination that I love. The pictures of Katherine in the white lace are like a snow-world fantasy - but it's a fantasy that I can enjoy too, a fantasy that I can imagine for myself, because the outfit is shown on such a curvy, beautiful model, not on a stick-like frame. I love how the white lace looks beside her fair skin, and I adore her full, shapely limbs, which the outfit frames so well.

Now I wish Katherine that could model every new trend as it comes out, so that I could know if it works on a curvaceous figure.

And I'm so grateful to her for modelling swimwear. I still approach swimwear with some trepidation, but when I see how va-va-voom and amazing Katherine looks in swim apparel, at a size 18, I know that full-figured girls can look even better in swimwear than their thinner rivals. She sure does.

Can we say "sexy" on this forum? Because in truth, Katherine's swimwear images are just about the most seductive swimwear images I've ever seen in my life. Those are the definition of healthy curves. I love the wicked smile in her eyes in the first swimsuit photo. She looks terrific and clearly feels great about herself. She's a knockout.

If there were any magazine in print with models like Katherine in its pages, I would buy it and subscribe to it for a decade in advance.

And if there is an afterlife, my one wish is that the angels will look exactly like this:

http://www.judgmentofparis.com/kr/sassy03.jpg

Flawless. Absolutely flawless.

No matter how many size-positive articles are posted on this forum, nothing can deliver the message of size celebration as effectively as pictures of a goddess as stunningly curvy as Katherine in swimwear. It's one thing to tell young full-figured girls to love their bodies, but another thing for them to see how beautiful Katherine's size-18 physique is in swim apparel. That visual impression will be far more persuasive than any words. They'll feel so good about themselves if their arms are as luscious as hers, or if their hips are as womanly and curvaceous, because they will have seen that such features correspond to supermodel beauty.

Thank goodness that Katherine is keeping her curves. I pray that we won't lose her to the industry's starvation agenda, but that she will maintain the soft shapeliness that she now possesses.

I love the lace outfit most of all, but I'm a fan of the casual look too, the one in beige. These particular images don't really show it, but the top has split sleeves, which is a detail that I love. And I like the thin and decorative belt.
Amazing as it may seem, no matter how gorgeous the images that have already been published from Katherine Roll's Sassy Mouth test proved to be, many of the most beautiful photographs from this shoot have yet to be released.

Now, however, we have managed to liberate two of the most stunning hidden gems from the Katherine Roll archive and can share them here, in addition to one particularly pretty image that we held back from our initial post.

First, feast your eyes upon a photograph so elegant that it seems to have come from another time. With the use of black-and-white film, the lace attire, and the model's soft, well-fed look, this picture could have been created in the 19th century, like a portrait of Lillian Russell. There could be no greater testament to Katherine's loveliness than her ability to incarnate the look of the 1800s, a time when feminine aesthetics were far better understood and appreciated than they are today. Even the way in which the image fades out of focus at the bottom edges is characteristic of the photography of the day, in which the focus was set at a precisely constrained depth.

But it is the model's own opulent allure that confirms this as an image worthy of the Victorian Era. What makes her countenance so gorgeous is that in addition to a flawless feminine bone structure that gives her high cheekbones, Katherine also exhibits visible weight in her face, a well-fed look that softens her features, rounding them into pleasing contours. The most beautiful women in history, such as Shannon Marie and Lillian Russell herself, display the same unique harmony of distinguished bone structure and facial fullness. (Even a slight physical diminishment would decrease this luscious appearance, while any enrichment of the figure correspondingly augments facial beauty.) Add to that her luxurious, princess-like locks, and the effect is that of a princess of the realm.

Also, what makes this one of the loveliest headshots that we have ever seen is her captivating expression. There is an undercurrent of appetitiveness in her look, but it is a calm, secure gaze, with a banked-down fire smouldering in her eyes, a passionate undercurrent that she nevertheless keeps in check. She is scrutinizing something with a mixture of desire and expectation, a sense of entitlement that is thrilling to the viewer. She clearly knows that she can have anything she wants, thanks to her beauty. Were it the priciest objet d'arte, the richest dessert, or the most ornate couture gown in all of creation, her vanity would tell her, "I deserve it." And she would be absolutely right.

A second image is similar in its technical aspects and composition, but consider how substantially the model alters the effect, simply by changing her demeanour. Her expression is darker here, bordering on captivating petulance, yet it is also irresistibly attractive. How does she convey emotions tinged with wickedness, yet always remain so aesthetically pleasing? The childlike softness of her countenance is her secret, which makes even her most selfish expressions appear gorgeous. "You haven't spoiled me enough," her eyes seem to reproach the viewer, yet the babylike fullness of her face only increases one's desire to fulfill her wishes. Katherine displays the emotional maturity of a goddess, yet still exhibits the soft, well-fed attractiveness of a young girl. This gives her the ability to blend sensations in her images that are usually incompatible, resulting in images that are as complex and intriguing as they are beautiful.

For counterpoint, here is the photograph that we held back from our initial post, its remarkable divergence in tone from the preceding headshots a testament to Katherine's extraordinary range. She radiates pure delight, glowing like the sun. Her hair dances around her face in ecstatic abandon. Her figure appears full and replete, soft and curvaceous. The association of such confidence and joy with such a robust physique is the epitome of size celebration. The image offers all women a clear choice: "A girl can starve, look haggard, and feel miserable, or she can eat whatever she likes and as much as she likes, and look gorgeous and feel great." Katherine's countenance even exhibits that most attractive of all facial features, a soft curve under the chin. The slacks define the luscious rondeur around her middle. The picture communicates freedom, pleasure, and voluptuous femininity. What could be more desirable?

Whereas many plus-size models garner a kind of tentative praise, enthusing their fans in half measures, leaving them inspired but wishing that the girls in question were fuller-figured, Katherine's images generate unreserved adulation. At a luxurious size 18, she is genuinely full-figured, and consequently possesses not only a goddesslike physique, but breathtakingly beautiful facial features as well. Add to that her facility for exploring a host of different emotions and passions, and the result is one of the most beautiful and popular models in the industry.

We eagerly look forward to her future triumphs.

Whenever I begin to despair that there are no images of honestly full-figured and spectacularly beautiful women in the media, even in the plus-size industry, I turn to Katherine's pictures for reassurance and inspiration. I've admired every picture as it's been added, but the first of the two black-and-white headshots that was just posted compels me to add a compliment of my own to this thread.

It really is dream-like. I could imagine seeing it in a frame on someone's mantle and asking them, "Who was she?" They would respond, "Oh, she was a legendary beauty of the 1890s, acclaimed by all as the most gorgeous woman of the stage." Or perhaps they might say, "She was an icon of the silver screen from the days of silent pictures. In the 1910s, she portrayed many fair heroines in adventure epics, princesses who were rescued by the likes of Douglas Fairbanks."

Katherine has a soft appearance thanks to being legitimately curvy, but she also has a way of adopting soft expressions that are gentle, but full of life and personality. So lovely.

I love lace on full-figured models. It's a fabric that epitomizes timeless beauty, so it's the perfect raiment for plus-size goddesses. And in Katherine's abbreviated outfit, it provides the perfect frame for her limbs, which are the most attractive features of all.

But for pure size-celebratory inspiration, my own ideal photos are the swimsuit pictures - this one especially. Her arms look so round and soft, and she shows them off so proudly. She even accentuates her hip, just a little. The message of the image is so empowering: "I'm gorgeous, I love my body, and this is what a beautiful figure looks like."

If girls were exposed to image like this on a regular basis, there would be no such thing as eating disorders. This is the epitome of what a size-positive fashion industry would look like. The plus-size industry, certainly, should be presenting curves like these as the feminine ideal.

May it be.
As fans eagerly await additional images from Katherine Roll's most recent test, we thought that it would be worth sharing two further pictures from her acclaimed Sassy Mouth Photography shoot.

The first photo offers one more look at Katherine in her beige outfit. Who could fail to be gladdened by the sheer, unbridled happiness that she radiates in this image? She has a twinkle in her eyes and exudes all of the bubbly, effervescent joy of youth. Yet her celebrated figure is generous and shapely, attractively defined by her wardrobe. She embodies the kind of pleasurable existence that a goddess can lead if she does not succumb to diet-starvation and exercise-torture, but enjoys life to the fullest.

A second image offers viewers an interesting opportunity for comparison. This is, of course, the colour version of a photograph that appeared earlier in this thread in black and white, where it had the vintage look of a portrait of Lillian Russell. Naturally, Katherine appears breathtakingly beautiful in this version as well, with her tresses resembling spun gold against the white lace. Her sideways glance is highly intriguing, causing the viewer to seek to discern her thoughts. And yet, although fans generally favour colour photography, in this case they might be inclined to opt for the black-and-white version, if only because the vintage look underscored the timeless quality of Katherine's loveliness, presenting her as a princess who has stepped out of the enchanted past and inhabits the modern world.

As a gorgeous and genuinely full-figured model, Miss Roll is without a doubt one of the most exciting talents in the industry today. She can convincingly embody every contemporary archetype of womanhood that the industry might require of her, yet she effortlessly transitions back into a Victorian identity as well, in which guise her grace and her femininity shine forth.

We eagerly look forward to more illustrations of her timeless beauty.
