Okay, so I know it's just celebrity fluff. And as a celebrity, Kim Kardashian will, unfortunately, always be prone to delivering mixed messages, or having mixed messages attributed to her. However, I think her recent comments for U.K. Cosmo deserve a hearing.

I love both her pro-indulgence theme, as well as her praise of dimpled flesh:

The 30-year-old socialite credits her parents with giving her confidence in her figure and says she has no plans to deny herself her favourite foods in order to maintain a "flawless" physique.

She said: 'Our parents always made us feel like, 'This is who we are, we're all beautiful and this is exactly how we're supposed to be'. We never had any pressure to look different and I think that's why we're so confident about it today.

'I have cellulite. So what! I've never claimed to be perfect. It's crazy anyone should assume that just because you're in the spotlight, you're flawless.

'Sometimes I pig out and I still feel great, and think, 'That was so worth it!' That's how I feel a lot of the time. I think, 'See this little dimple of cellulite here? It was so worth it for that cookies 'n' cream ice cream!'

'If I was stuck on a diet my whole life, I would be really miserable. I love to eat. If you can't enjoy your life then what's the point? You can't torture yourself. I love Rice Krispies Treats, ice cream and frozen yogurt.'

While Kim is confident about her body now, she admits she was devastated when she first started to develop breasts at the age of 10, because her younger sister Kourtney used to tease her.

She explained to Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine: 'Kourtney would always make fun of me for having bigger boobs than she did. When you're young, it's embarrassing. Your body is changing and it's scary.

'Then when I was 15, I realised it was great. I've never wished for smaller boobs since.'

However, one part of her body Kim was never embarrassed by was her 'big butt'.

She said: 'Personally, I've always loved the curvy look. Even when I was a little girl and all my friends would be like, 'Oh, my god, your butt's so big'. And I'd say, 'I love it.'
Her sister, Khloe, has the fuller figure, therefore these affirmative statements would be even more persuasive coming from her - or better still, from a plus-size model. Nevertheless, I have to applaud her sentiments. Not only does she itemize the rich foods that she enjoys, but she also makes a point that is very simple, yet very meaningful, and one that many women forget: that dieting is misery and torture (her own words - so true), and that having a fuller figure is well worth it for the pleasure of eating whatever you want, of really enjoying yourself and living life.

The only quibble I have is that she still presents the dimpled flesh as a kind of trade-off for pleasure. Rather, I'd like to see a discourse where not only can a girl enjoy herself by eating as much as she likes, but that the richer curves that she accrues as a result actually improve her beauty, and that she recognizes this and celebrates this.

Still, some admirably positive statements. I wish the media would take this tack more often.
