<br>Today, May 6th, is the 19th annual observation of International No-Diet Day.

On this occasion, it is always worth visiting the venerable <a href="http://www.eskimo.com/~largesse/INDD/" target="_blank">Web site</a> that describes the origin of this celebration, and lists <a href="http://www.eskimo.com/~largesse/INDD/toptenreasons.html" target="_blank">lists</a> ten compelling reasons to give up dieting. However, in the years since the latter page was published, countless studies have <a href="http://www.judgmentofparis.com/board/showthread.php?t=2074" target="_blank">revealed</a> that self-imposed starvation is even worse for the female body than was previously known. Dieting is deleterious for health (both physical and psychological) and ruinous of beauty. Thus, there is no sane reason whatsoever for women to engage in this harmful practice. Food deprivation makes no more sense than oxygen deprivation, and a cultural activity that saw women trying to live on depleted air intake would be no less absurd (nor harmful) than one which has women living on depleted food intake. Self-induced starvation is no more rational than self-induced suffocation.

The only shortcoming of the concept of International No-Diet Day is its circumscribed duration. This year, let every woman allow No-Diet Day to extend into a No-Diet Week, then a No-Diet Month, and eventually a No-Diet Year. Indeed, when INDD leads to an International No-Diet Decade, then we will know that the event has realized its full potential.

Rather than torturing themselves with pointless starvation, women should take this opportunity to enjoy every morsel of food that they have ever wanted to eat--and then some. The pleasure that they experience in finally indulging themselves freely, as their bodies have always desired, will show them the joys that they are missing. They will discover that they need not subsist on meagre rations and feel miserable day in day out, but can eat whatever they like and as much as they like, confident in the knowledge that this self-indulgence will improve their well-being as well as their beauty, giving them the luscious curves that will transform them into bona fide goddesses.

Speaking of Rosie, here's a clip from the National Geographic television series Taboo. If I had to guess, I would say that this was filmed sometime shortly before she won the "Face of Full-Figured Fashion Week" award last year, as it still shows Rosie competing in the plus-size pageant circuit. Also, her hair is lighter in the clip, whereas it has been darker in recent shoots.

She looks gorgeous on the pageant stage. The video is quite emotional (reminding me a little of IGIGI's short film with Rosie), as she mentions some of the discrimination that she has faced. However, her extraordinary beauty is what stands out. Amazingly, she doesn't even win the pageant in which she is competing, whereas she's easily more beautiful than any of the other contestants.

Little did the judges at that pageant realize that Rosie would be the girl who, more than anyone else, would shatter barriers and show that models over a size 26 could create far more breathtaking fashion photographs than their diminished rivals.

Rosie's beauty has been the key to transforming society, as true beauty always is.

This year, let every woman allow No-Diet Day to extend into a No-Diet Week, then a No-Diet Month, and eventually a No-Diet Year. Indeed, when INDD leads to an International No-Diet Decade, then we will know that the event has realized its full potential.
Perhaps this idea could become a reality. I just learned, almost too late, that May 11th is official "Eat What You Want Day" (!). Actually, I like that premise even better than "International No-Diet Day," because a "No-Diet Day" is still about saying "No" to something, while an "Eat What You Want Day" is about say "Yes!" - Yes to everything. It sounds much more fun, and more positive.

If only women could realize that every day should be an "Eat What You Want Day," they would free themselves from so much pointless misery and would really begin to enjoy life, as they were meant to.
