Like many major retailers (such as WalMart, with its custom publication All You), Australia's largest department-store chain, Myer, publishes a magazine of its own, titled Emporium.

Alas, for the most part, the publication features the same sort of underweight waifs and unappealing modern photography that blights the minus-size fashion establishment, but this month, Myer has taken a significant step towards embracing size-celebration.

As posted earlier today by her agency, Bella Model Management, beautiful Australian plus-size model Sophie Sheppard appears in the current issue of Emporium. (Don't bother downloading the issue as an iPhone or iPad app, though, because, frustratingly, Sophie's two-page editorial is not included in the Apple versions of the publication, only in the print edition.)

The images do not celebrate the model's sumptuous size-16 figure the way that her thrilling new Penningtons campaign does, but the tear sheets are nevertheless lovely. The image on the far right on the recto page is especially captivating, with Sophie looking fresh and vibrant, exuding a delightfully surprised look. The fur vest imparts to her persona a touch of a wild, animalistic side. In the smaller, inset image, she looks breezy and relaxed, her tresses flowing freely along with the fabric of her outfit.

The three images on the verso page are equally beguiling. In the larger photograph, the model exhibits the effortless ease of being born beautiful. Her hair caresses her face in romantic waves, while she bewitchingly plays with a stray tress. In the two inset images, she has the casual yet bright-eyed look of a college co-ed, a university student enjoying dorm life and finding simple ways to adorn her beauty while she concentrates on her studies. Yet anyone taking a seminar with Sophie would undoubtedly find themselves unable to focus on any subject matter other than the topic of Miss Sheppard's breathtaking beauty.

Bravo to Myer for including the stunning Sophie in the pages of its latest publication. As a result, women throughout Australia will, for once, find images of a truly gorgeous model with a soft, shapely figure whenever they receive a complimentary copy of the magazine with their Myer purchases. No one could better represent full-figured women to an entire nation than the enchanting Miss Sheppard. We hope that her career, at home and abroad, will continue to flourish.
As a long-overdue follow-up to this thread, and thanks to a lovely gift from Australian forum member Tamika--who kindly sent us a copy of the magazine in question--we are now able to share clearer scans of Miss Sheppard's two-page spread in Myer's Emporium magazine.

As we noted in our earlier comments, this truly is a lovely presentation of Sophie's beauty, showcasing her fair facial features and golden hair. When she is out of the merciless Australian sun, the model exhibits the ideal English Rose complexion, a porcelain-doll skin tone with a hint of fresh colouring at the cheeks. Although numerous plus-size models have blonde tresses, few, in fact, exhibit this peaches-and-cream complexion--and fewer still can match Sophie's doll-like prettiness.

Yet for all that she is fair, Sophie's skin tone is not the cold white of marble. Rather, she exhibits a flesh-and-blood robustness in her features, a look that is hale and glowing, even as it is feminine and graceful. This is the true look of timeless beauty.

Congratulations once more to Miss Sheppard on this magazine appearance, and kudos to Myer for booking her. Let us hope that the company will enlist her services for future promotions, thus showing its commitment to representing its full-figured clientele in the most agreeable of ways.
