Not long ago, a reader of this forum posted the information that Liis was filming a series of modelling seminars, subsequently to be broadcast on Canadian television.

Canadian Learning Television (the network that will be broadcasting Liis's program) has now established the show's air date, which will be Sunday, October 22, 2006, at 16:00 (4:00 P.M.), EST.

Seeing plus-size models on television is still a rare occurrence, apart from the exciting cases of Christina Schmidt and Charlotte Coyle (as well as a few models who have organized publicity), so this is an event of some significance. It will be a delight to see Liis in living motion. And although CLT is a digital channel, and therefore lacks the viewership of CTV or Channel 4, this program will nevertheless raise the industry's profile, and spread the popularity of plus-size modelling, thus helping more young women realize that they do not need to starve to be supermodels--or simply to discover their own beauty.

The opulent fullness of Liis's facial features (unidentified tear sheet)--timeless beauty, today:

- Our humble tribute . . .
Hopefully, many plus-size model aficionados tuned in to Liis's program last Sunday. It turned out to be a comprehensive and entertaning hour-long introduction to the craft of modelling, from a veteran of the profession. Apart from the expected topics, such as modelling categories, breaking into the business, and tools of the trade, Liis devoted a considerable portion of the program to discussing actual modelling techniques, such as how to stand, how to pose, how to walk, how to create commercial vs. editorial looks, etc. Models of any size would benefit from Liis's tips, some of which would even benefit girls with considerable modelling experience, as well as newcomers.

Below is a link to a minute-long video clip comprising two particularly helpful excerpts from the program. The second covers a bad posing habit of which models would do well to rid themselves. The first identifies one of the worst mistakes to which full-figured models are prone: "sucking in" (shudder). As Liis demonstrates, nothing is more distracting than having a model attempt to "suck in" (whether it be her waist, or her cheeks). The entire beauty of plus-size models consists in the visible fullness of their features, therefore any attempt to minimize these well-fed curves signficantly diminishes their beauty, and yields artificial poses and expressions. In their natural state, plus-size models exude an appealing sense of comfort and relaxation. Nothing should ever diminish this quality.

Hopefully, Liis's entire show will be made available on DVD, or will be re-broadcast at some point in the future.
