Jenn Purviance: Venus Anadyomene
 

Fans of gorgeous plus-size model Jennifer Purviance (who was introduced in this thread) will already have seen the stunning swimwear photographs that the model recently released, the first of which is among the most size-positive images that we have yet seen.

In a splendid evocation of the classical Venus Anadyomene theme ("Venus rising from the sea"), Jennifer is shown emerging from the waves and reaching shore, as if the pounding surf had given birth to her.

What makes this image such a masterpiece of size celebration is its loving depiction of the model's luscious thighs. Jennifer is acclaimed as having possibly the finest legs of any plus-size model working today, and this photograph indicates why. Not only are her legs rounded, with an alluring absence of muscle tone--instead, shaped to perfection by natural fullness--but they exhibit sensually dimpled flesh. Yet the model proudly showcases her legs as if they were the limbs of a goddess. Such images can do wonders to help curvy women not just accept, but celebrate their natural physiques.

A closer view shows the model adopting a seductive pose, with the swimsuit acknowledging her buxom décolletage. Her long tresses flow over her shoulders in waves that match the cascading crests of the ocean, their "wet look" appearance augmenting the model's allure. Her facial features exhibit attractive fullness.

Consider how much this test series gains from having been photographed in a dramatic natural location, rather than in a bare, tedious studio. The craggy rocks by the shore contrast effectively with Jennifer's soft, rounded curves.

Even this simple image of the model beneath the palm-frond roof of a cabana is infinitely more interesting than if the model had been shot indoors. Also, observe throughout this series how the striking red hue of the model's swimsuit contrasts with the muted palette of the seacoast. Her arms appear attractively soft and full in this photograph,

while the following take emphasizes the curve of her hips and her rounded middle.

We see here yet another testament to how much the plus-size fashion industry gains when it features a model who is gorgeous and genuinely full-figured. At her size, Jennifer makes the swim apparel far more appealing than a thinner model ever would, and the acknowledgment of her visibly plus features can have a positive effect on the self-esteem of all curvy girls.

When we recently posted a series of swimwear images featuring breathtaking plus-size model Jenn Purviance (see above), we enthusiastically proclaimed the first photograph to be "among the most size-positive images that we had yet seen," and were ready to dub it an unsurpassable triumph for the model.

Our use of the word "yet" was prescient, however, because Jennifer has now released another image from this shoot which, astonishingly, surpasses its predecessor not only in terms of visual artistry, but even from a pro-curvy perspective.

In this truly dramatic photograph, the dark waves of the deep ocean in the background seem to divide, to better frame the model's figure--as if, by the gesture of raising her arms into the air, Jennifer were parting the sea at will. The dark blues and greens of the water contrast richly with Jennifer's crimson swimsuit.

The model's pose is extraordinary, a languid, sensual, contrapposto stance that emphasizes her womanly hips. Her luscious thighs, with their celebrated dimpled flesh, are abundantly on display. This picture, however, also exhibits the soft fullness of the model's arms, which appear as rounded and untoned as the limbs of a newborn--this too being in keeping with the Anadyomene motif, as is Jennifer's steamy gaze and stretching limbs, which express an awakening, a birth.

Both model and photographer deserve great credit for the preceding image, which is well-nigh a masterpiece. However, several further photographs from this shoot deserve a look as well, most prominently the following, which celebrates the luscious curve under Jennifer's chin.

The next picture is particularly effective at showcasing the irresistibly seductive "wet look" tresses that Jennifer so appropriately sports for this shoot. Their damp and wildly tangled appearance is highly alluring.

A kneeling image loses the model's legs, but subconsciously invites mermaid associations (one never knows!), and celebrates the fleshy fullness of her arms.

The gorgeous hairstyle that Jennifer wore for this shoot is credited to one Angie Peters, who also took a crack at photographing the model in the same setting. (Observe the dramatically crashing wave in the following photograph.) Angie's images are more incidental and spontaneous, with the model splashing the camera with the white foam of the surf,

or being caught in the undertow (in a photograph which also happens to acknowledge the sensual fleshiness of her arms).

A final image from Ms. Peters presents Jennifer adopting a confident stance, showing off her hips, thighs, and arms--all extremely shapely features, their beauty due entirely to Jennifer's being a true plus-size model, gorgeous and visibly full-figured, and not a faux-plus fraud.

Bravo once again to Jennifer and her photographic team for a truly outstanding and size-celebratory test series, and in particular, for producing one of the finest bathing images any model has ever created.

As reported on this forum several weeks ago, gorgeous plus-size model Jenn Purviance has now been signed to the Curve division of Wilhelmina L.A.

As a consequence, the model's size and measurements are now available. Fans will be delighted to see that Jenn is indeed a true plus-size model at a 16/18, with measurements 43-34-53.

The latter stat is especially admirable. Among working plus-size models, only Mayara Russi can boast a comparable hip measurement. Jenn's luscious proportions confirm why her work is so effective and so popular. For a public that has long been asking for legitimately full-figured models who are youthful and gorgeous, Jenn is the answer to their hopes.

Fans with Jenn every success with her new agency and congratulate Wilhelmina on signing a visibly full-figured goddess.
