Re: Charlotte Coyle: Dancer
I can't even begin to express how lovely Charlotte looks in the Dancer photograph. This is one of those rare images that fully convey the notion of a plus-size model as an actual goddess. The idea of dance as freedom and joyful abandon (as others have expressed it) is communicated by Charlotte's graceful stance, and by her expression. She really is Aphrodite -- or was, at the very moment that the shutter clicked. When I imagine what the models who posed for the sculptures of Antiquity must have looked like, Charlotte embodies that idea perfectly.
The expanse of darkness around her actually helps the impression, because I imagine in its place a glorious landscape stretching out into the distance behind her, or Charlotte standing, just in this manner, amid the columns of the Parthenon. This is a work of wonder.
