Another look at Fellini's La Dolce Vita
confirms Ms. Lopez's suggestion that Charlotte bears a passing resemblance to Anita Ekberg. Here, once again, is Charlotte:
And here is a screen capture of Anita, in the legendary "Dance in the Trevi fountain" scene, which may be the most beautiful instance of timeless beauty ever recorded on film.
Readers who saw Wolgang Petersen's epic Troy this summer may also notice some similarity between Charlotte and Diane Krüger, who played Helen of Troy in said film. At the time that Troy premiered, several of our readers mentioned that Ms. Krüger would have made a worthy Helen, if only she had been fuller-figured. Charlotte gives us some idea of what such a deity might have looked like.
How thrilling that plus-size models are finally being allowed--even encouraged--to present themselves as the goddesses that they truly are. It reflects the fact that full-figured women in general are beginning to see themselves in this manner.
And rightly so.
