Default Karen Vermeiren for Dominique

It's a pleasure to see another campaign from Karen Vermeiren, the curvaceous Belgian soprano-turned-model who has been praised here before (most recently in this thread). She appears in the Fall 2007 promotion for the Scandinavian plus-size label Dominique.

Although autumn campaigns are seldom as exciting as spring/summer promos, and given that European plus-size clothing is still rather more conservative than North American full-figure fashion, the images are still celebratory of Karen's shapely beauty.

Here is the Dominique Web site:

I particularly appreciate this sweater shot, which shows an outfit that lovingly embraces the model's figure, showing off her curvy waist -- and also indicates a better way for voluptuous beauties to wear waist belts (lower on their frame, rather than in a more constricting manner).

Fitted sweaters always look good on plus-size figures because they gives the wearer a warm, cozy, cuddly look -- which frankly drives men wild.

Karen reminds me of Barbara Brickner, in that both models have that unique sexy-yet-chic mix, and can ramp up either quality, sensuality or elegance, depending on the situation.

I admire the vain, regal bearing of the model in this image, which shows off her facial features particularly well:

And let me add a word of praise for the setting, which appears to be the interior and grounds of a European country palace, with elaborate classical stonework,

and sumptuous interiors.

The Dominique site states that the label is targeted at "young women," and although it is no Torrid, it is wonderful to see European labels slowly discovering a younger market, and serving it by promoting their fashions on such a gorgeous and visibly full-figured model.

Karen Vermeiren is completely gorgeous and visibly full-figured--the ideal qualities of a plus-size model. In certain images, she also displays an extremely attractive element of vanity, which perhaps she owes to her other career as an operatic soprano (opera divas being legendary for their alluring greed and insatiability).

It is a pity that, to date, Ms. Vermeiren has only modelled for conservative clients who have not taken full advantage of her curvaceous charms. Someday, however, we hope that a client will come along and allow her to reveal her more seductive side, as Elena Miro allowed Barbara Brickner to fully exhibit her goddesslike aspects.

In the meantime, the many fans who have been asking for a permanent page dedicated to this luscious beauty will be please to see a new Karen Vermeiren gallery, at the link provided below. She has also become a contender on our survey page, so enthusiasts should feel free to cast a ballot in favour of this voluptuous diva.
