Default Full-Figured Fashion Week 2012

Here it is at last - the web site of FFFWeek 2012 has officially launched.

The most significant page for many readers will, of course, be the model-registration tab.

http://fffweek.com/2012/model-registration

It comes with a graphic showing one of the stars of last year's FFFWeek, Katherine Roll. It's an effective reminder of why Full Figured Fashion Week is the gold standard of runway shows in the plus-size industry - because it features models like Katherine, gorgeous and genuinely full-figured, at a size 18.

The specifics for models to qualify remain unchanged. They exemplify the standards that all clients should use when booking plus-size models

Quote:
  • Minimum height- 5'7" without heels (if you are a plus petite model, you are encouraged to submit but your weight MUST be proportionate to your height. First consideration will be given to models who are at least 5'7")
  • Dress sizes between - 14-22
  • Runway experience is mandatory

The fact that plus-size models should begin at a size 14 is the critical cutoff to ensure that the models actually represent full-figured women and exhibit visible fullness. The openness to petite plus-size models is also admirable.

The model-registration page lists further particulars for candidate submissions, each of which must be followed to the letter.

Further tabs at the FFFWeek site are also open to designers, volunteers, the Face of FFFWeek, etc.

Last year's show was truly the greatest runway event the fashion world has ever seen. I can't wait to see what this year's show will be like!

FFFWeek has now posted its preliminary schedule for 2012:

The event has made a number of changes for this year, each of which is very interesting. Most intriguing right away is the fact that there will be three (3) "fashion showcases" (presumably runway shows).

Quote:
Wednesday, June 13
  • Blogger Conference (Invitation only)
  • Press/Buyers Receptions (Invitation only)
  • Opening Night All-White Cruise

Thursday, June 14
  • Blogger Conference (Invitation only)
  • Curves In The City Sample Sale (Day 1)
  • Fashion Showcase
  • FFFWEEK Networking Event

Friday, June 15
  • Blogger Conference (Invitation only)
  • Curves In The City Sample Sale (Day 2)
  • Panel Discussion
  • Fashion Showcase & Awards Ceremony
  • FFFWEEK Afterparty

Saturday, June 16
  • Blogger Conference (Invitation only)
  • Semi-Formal Finale Fashion Showcase

The popular all-white cruise is making a comeback. And I think that moving the awards ceremony to the Friday, rather than having it as part of the grand finale runway show, is a wise idea. It will keep the energy up on Saturday and make it a tighter show.

I can't wait to find out more about what each of the events will entail. It really is becoming a bona fide fashion week!

With only two days left for models to register for FFFWeek 2012, this thread needs to be bumped!

I hope that many gorgeous models will attend this year's show. Last year's event, with Kelsey, Katherine, Lindsey (and, yes, Maxey) on the runway is well-nigh unsurpassable.

Full Figured Fashion Week is the most exciting happening in the plus-size industry, bar none. I hope that all of the world's most gorgeous models will participate.

Oh, and of all of the videos of last year's show, I still think my favourites are the brief interviews that the Judgment of Paris favourites shared.

Their reactions were so sincere and enthusiastic. You can see what a great time they had at the show.

The schedule for FFFWeek 2012 has now been finalized, and tickets are now on sale:

Most interesting is the venue for the final runway showcases. There are two! Both will be held at the Broad Street Ballroom, a former bank building in the heart of New York's financial district.

As the pictures show, it's a magnificent, historicist, Neoclassical structure, perfect for housing a display of Classical feminine beauty.

Inside, the hall is lined with noble Doric columns, just as on the exterior, Ionic columns decorate the facade:

Absolutely magnificent. Plus, FFFWeek is operating another white cruise this year, as well as a number of fascinating seminars and panels. Not to be missed!
