Default Espaņa! (Carisal Fashion)

The summer fashion season is drawing to a close, and autumn lines have already appeared on most retailers' Web sites. However, we cannot let the season end without commenting on at least one more summer promotion, one that is size-positive in a very particular (and wonderful) way.

Earlier this year, we posted a message called "The European Fit," in which we praised several continental retailers for featuring closely-fitted clothing on their plus-size models.

One model, appearing on behalf of a Spanish company, received particular notice in that thread, owing to her uncommonly full, shapely legs. And now, we are delighted to be able to devote another post to her work--this time for a different Spanish company, Carisal Fashion.

Carisal's dresses are very feminine and curve-friendly, even Torrid-worthy, which is almost unheard of for a European plus-size line. But what makes this company's summer campaign noteworthy, and what makes its dresses look so good, is the fact that Carisal is promoting its pieces on a visibly full-figured model--the star of our "European Fit" post.

Note the appealingly abbreviated length of the dresses, just above the knees, which shows off this model's most gorgeous feature--her full, beautiful legs.

What makes this pretty model's legs so attractive is that they are naturally shapely--i.e., they have the soft, plump appearance that comes from generous indulgence, rather than the ropy-muscled, mannish, "toned" look that a model's legs acquire when she subjects herself to body-disfiguring exercise-torture. And these photographs indicate that both the model herself, and Carisal, know just how sexy her legs really are, since they are the focus of attention in every image.

The seductive shape of the model's legs is equally visible when she wears close-fitting white pants, as she does in several Carisal images.

We generally favour dresses and skirts over slacks, but an image such as the following shows just how flattering white pants can be, so long as they are worn very fitted, so that they define the wearer's womanly hips, and show off her curvy contours.

And finally, here is our lovely Spanish model in a girlish camisole, showing that her arms are just as shapely as her legs. Any voluptuous vixen in a Torrid-like outfit such as this is sure to ensnare the heart of every man she desires.

You can find most of the above images in the nuevos modelos section of the Carisal Web site (linked below), along with many other lovely images of this Spanish beauty, who is doing so much to show full-figured women what "sexy legs" really look like--not toothpick-thin, not musclebound and masculine, but soft and full, with the shape that the female body naturally forms when it is generously indulged.

As the saying goes, "Curves are the body's natural art."

[NOTE: We subsequently discovered the model's name: Leticia Herrero, a gorgeous girl who, sadly, has recently diminished herself.--HSG]

I like the ruffled hem on the first two dresses, which leads the eye down to look at the model's celebrated legs, framing them. (Let's hear it for the beauty of the soft, well-fed look, which this model has, rather than androgynously thin/"toned" limbs.)

And although I am not a subscriber to the shoe cult that some women seem to embrace, there's no doubt that the cute colour-coordinated shoes help make that first lemon/lime dress pop.

Great campaign, especially for Europe, which is still playing catch-up to the "New Femininity" that blossomed in North American plus-size fashion.
