Default Nina Blakemore: Moss's lead ''horrible''

Lovely British plus-size model Nina Blakemore is also speaking out against Kate Moss' irresponsible remark.

Quote:
“Considering she’s meant to be a role model for young girls – and especially with her clothing line – lots of young women and above all those suffering from an eating disorder could be aspiring to be like her. They’re going to follow the same lead, which is horrible.”

How sadly true. Miss Blakemore is herself a now-thriving survivor of anorexia. Her disease was arrested by her mother's insistence that she get help, and as a result, Miss Blakemore says,

Quote:
“Now I work as a plus-size model, for sizes 16 to 18. I get more work as an 18 than I ever did as an eight.”

Nina, from her Web site's photo gallery.

Default Re: Nina Blakemore: Moss's lead ''horrible''

In my mind there is nothing healthier than a woman with a proper appetite for good foods. The bottle of whole milk and croissants/pastries there on the table add to an already pleasing picture that is healthy and positive for young women to see - that it's good to eat and indulge, and it's a desirable thing to have a voluptuous figure.

People like Kate Moss are always given plenty of press to spout off their poisonous nonsense, and they've done an excellent job of corrupting the minds of young women, but many are fighting back. This is the second model that has taken Miss Moss to task for her thoughtless remarks. Years ago I think people would have been afraid to say anything, but I do sense a slow change in the culture towards the "death aesthetic" and its adherents.
