An image of Canadian plus-size model and actress Christina Schmidt appears in a National Post newspaper article about the Canadian plussize fashion scene that was published just yesterday.

It includes some interesting quotes from some of the better-known Canadian full-figured fashion labels.

The owner of Lola & Gigi indicates why plus-specific, plus-exclusive boutiques and stores (not to mention magazines and media) are so welcome for plussize women.


Having a waif-free environment definitely creates a more positive atmosphere for full-figured women, a place where they can relax and feel good about themselves, free from any comparisons to the underweight girls whom the media constantly pushes as a "standard," a comparison that comes up when sizes are mixed.

The Stefanie Bezaire label provided the image that accompanies the article. Its her second campaign with Christina.


That "vintage 1950s flair" is what makes her clothing so appealing on curvy bodies, since the 1950s came closer to appreciating naturally plussize women than any other decade of the past half-century.

The article also includes the interesting news that Jessica Biffi, who created two collections for MXM famously featuring Kailee, will be spinning off her own full-figured line:


The emphasis on "youth" is crucial. Far too much plussize fashion is still oriented towards older women. Having more figure-baring, body-conscious fashion for girls and young women in plus sizes is really needed, both for demographic purposes and because it will break the "plus equals old while thin equals young" stereotype that the media still maliciously promotes in order to create a false "frumpy" image around full female figures.


Anyway, here are some more pictures of Christina from Stephanie Bezaire. I love the fact that she has ribbons in her hair for some of the photos. Ribbons are even prettier than bows when it comes to hair accessories. I would love to see ribbons make a comeback as a popular hair option.








Of the various pieces in the Stephanie Bezaire like, I like this blouse best of all, with the bow on the front. In the second picture, I love how Christina poses, looking downward while playing with the bow. Such a feminine gesture. Also, the vintage props and setting give the clothing a context.






Another very pretty hair accessory appears in the two photos showing this black item.






Heres the dress that appeared in the newspaper. The low-cut neckline is the highlight.






Also, heres a photo of the Stefanie Bezaire line at a trade show. Its such a pleasure to see Christinas photos blown up to poster size, and hanging on the wall.
