Given that there are too few campaigns produced by U.S. retailers featuring models over a size 18, finding new work by size-22 goddess Mayara Russi in Brazil is always a pleasure.
The Givy label just released its spring 2012 promotion (far ahead of time, it might seem, but remember that the seasons in South America are reversed from ours), and the images are, of course, stunning. http://www.givy.com.br/ Some will like the clothing more than others, but the bottom line is that Mayara looks fantastic. First, Givy offers number of floral-print blouses. I love the flower accessory in Mayaras hair, in the picture on the right. ![]() ![]() ![]() She always looks most gorgeous when she adopts serious and sensual expressions, even more than when she smiles. She has a natural flair for steamy allure. ![]() Next, Givy offers a very pretty collection in a Bohemian style. I love the post that Mayara adopts in the picture on the right, teasing her hair and showing off her curves. ![]() She looks so fresh and natural in the right-hand photo. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are a few items in generic prints. ![]() ![]() For something different, Give also offers a black-and-white colleciton. ![]() ![]() A signature Brazilian look: an open blouse with a fitted white camisole underneath, and abbreviated fitted shorts or capris. ![]() Silky blouses. ![]() Solid, coloured shirts. ![]() A number of full-length dresses in vibrant prints. I rather like the dress on the right. ![]() ![]() And finally, some more formal-looking outfits which mix elegance with femininity. ![]() This colour is very rich. ![]() Mayara appears in three Givy covers in rotation. As I mentioned before, this dress is quite attractive. ![]() Larger: http://i52.tinypic.com/34oehph.jpg ![]() Larger: http://i54.tinypic.com/nyuueo.jpg ![]() Larger: http://i52.tinypic.com/5pftd.jpg Unfortunately, Givy has a habit of showing Mayara looking smaller than any other label does, whereas we know from her latest FWPS pictures how gorgeously curvy she actually is. This identifies yet another reason why plus-size models MUST be truly full-figured: because fashion photography always makes them look a size or two smaller than they actually are. So for customers to see models who look like a size 16, the models actually need to be a size 18 or 20. Mayara needs to be a full size 22 just to produce images in which she looks even as curvy as she does here. Once again, these attractive images that there is no reason why the North American plus-size industry cannot feature models as full-figured as Mayara. Everything looks great on her. She embodies the standard size that the industry should adopt. This represents what customers actually wish to see. |

Oh my goodness. Mayara just keeps getting more and more beautiful. I know I have said that before. I'll keep saying it as long as she keeps getting more beautiful!
I think the clothes are great. Brazilians seem to like very body-conscious blouses (for example #'s 19, 21, 10, 12 and 11, using Givy's numbers at the bottom right of each photo), which are of course perfect for a body worthy of the attention such as Mayara's, and also blouses with lace or embroidery details (#'s 8, 3, 13, 38, 5, 30, 6, 39, 31), all of which look very pretty and feminine on a plus-size figure. It's also nice to see Mayara in dresses. I love her extremely sultry expression in #20 and the very elegant, aristocratic look in #'s 22-23. She has such a tremendous range as a model; she can create any mood or image. |
