![]() Plus-size fashion shows have been uppermost in everyone's mind lately, but in addition to the runway events with which we are all familiar (FFFWeek and FWPS), another curvaceous catwalk event was wowing audiences just last week by featuring genuinely full-figured models in a mainstream fashion extravaganza. Texas designer Savannah Red accomplished the extraordinary feat of having her line included in the showings at Austin Fashion Week, and among the models participating was Courtney Legare (née Hanneman), whom readers of this site will know from her wonderful Lane Bryant audition video of 2011, and many other successes. ![]() Courtney was given the main-event gown in the Savannah Red collection, a daring, look-at-me red dress, which her size-18/20 curves shaped to perfection. ![]() The venue for the show couldn't have been better chosen: an elegant ballroom with opulent fixtures that recall the Baroque palaces of the Old World--a perfect showcase for timeless feminine beauty. ![]() Lest anyone doubt Savannah Red's commitment to using genuinely full-figured models, here's another girl who walked in her show, sporting an attractively curvy waist and full, shapely legs, which the designer's abbreviated skirt proudly displayed. ![]() The mermaid style of the gown accentuates Courtney's womanly hips, while the ruffled skirt adds a splendid touch of femininity to the design. ![]() This view of the model performing her end-of-the-runway turn highlights the intriguing detail in the fabric. Note too the attractive earrings--a marvellously elegant touch, harmonizing both with the richness of the gown and the ornateness of the setting. ![]() A shot of Courtney in profile offers a particularly celebratory view of her size-18/20 curves, and how the designer's gown embraces them. ![]() However, the real charm of a halter dress is expressly seen from the reverse view, which is why it is particularly fortunate that two photographs have emerged showing Courtney's exit from the runway, and exhibiting how the daringly low cut of the dress exposes a sensual expanse of bare flesh along the model's back. ![]() The figure in the foreground is none other than Savannah Red herself, the designer of the collection, her flaming tresses corresponding with the ruby hue of Courtney's gown to emphasize the signature "red" colour in the line's name. ![]() Kudos to Courtney for her stunning catwalk performance, and bravo to Savannah Red, both for representing plus-size fashion at a straight-size runway event, and for selecting genuinely full-figured models to showcase her designs. |

![]() For a moment there I read the headline as "Courtney in Savannah" and all I wanted to know was Where? and When? Darn it! But, hey, maybe that is something Savannah Red should think about, a nice little event in the namesake city, with some top-notch models . . .
The dress Courtney is wearing is fantastic. The white dress visible in rear view in the sixth photo looks spectacular as well. |

![]() As those of you who have been following her progress may know, Courtney's signature endeavour, these days, is Functional Girl, a lifestyle project with a special focus on body empowerment. Courtney, under her professional name C.J. Legare, recently shot a number of videos for Functional Girl. Here's one as a sample--a charming cosmetics review, featuring Samantha, who was paired with Courtney by the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization to be Courtney's little sister. We wish Functional Girl continued success in its admirable mission. |
