Default Kate Dillon on video

Continuing our series of video presentations of popular plus-size models, we are pleased to share a clip of Kate Dillon's appearance on Good Morning America, from fall 2002.

This TV appearance caused quite a sensation when it aired, due to the gorgeous styling--an off-the shoulder top that was quite daring, for the time; exemplifying a fine mixture of chic and sexy. Miss Dillon's fair features also look lovely on film, although the public has ever preferred her with longer hair.

The one-minute video is actually a splice of three separate clips: (a) an introduction, (b) Kate's account of leaving minus-size modelling, and (c), her response to the query, "Is it hard to find fashionable clothing in plus sizes?" Kate's response to the latter question is especially apt, in light of our recent discussion about the stunning model, and her attire.

Miss Dillon's observations about the fashion world are invariably intelligent and revealing. The GMA appearance was too brief for an in-depth discussion of these matters, so we direct fans who admire the more philosophical Kate to the link at the foot of this post. It opens a page at, which features a series of .mov clips from a 2000 documentary in which Kate Dillon participated, titled Dying to be Thin. Kate appears partway through the second segment, "Cultural Pressures," as well as partway through the final segment, "Road to Recovery."

Fans can also view a one-minute snippet of the documentary's best segment by clicking on the image below. It includes a few glimpses of Lane Bryant's first-ever Cacique runway show, for which Kate adopted flowing curls reminiscent of Kailee O'Sullivan in her exciting new MXM campaign.

The real shame is that we have never managed to obtain a tape of Kate Dillon's 1997 Just My Size TV commercial. Miss Dillon has never been as beautiful as she was at that stage of her career, when she was an intoxicating size 18. That JMS ad rivalled the best film appearances by Christina Schmidt, Barbara Brickner, Charlotte Coyle, or Kailee as one of the finest presentations of plus-size beauty in living motion.

Perhaps someday . . .
