An actress to watch

As others have pointed out on this forum, young Hollywood starlet Erika Christensen is unquestionably an actress to watch. Apart from Christina Schmidt (who is as much the cinematic ideal as Shannon Marie is the paragon of modelling), Erika is the first ingenue-age actress since Catherine Zeta-Jones to have acquired a degree of goddesslike allure.

True, if she were a model, she would fall into the "faux plus" category, but by the skewed standards of Hollywood, Miss Christensen has a soft, natural beauty that is quite uncommon.

Add to that her ivory-fair features, and a knack for dressing in an especially becoming manner (classically-inspired gowns are her specialty), and Erika is an actress who might, just might, help change public perceptions about full-figured femininity.

The two images that appear here come from the premiere of her new film, The Upside of Anger, which took place just last Thursday. Note the contrast, in the image below, between the lovely Miss Christensen on the right, and waif actress Keri Russell. Erika easily outshines the former Felicity star:

Beauty is all-too-fleeting in Hollywood, where the pressure to starve is practically insurmountable, and the list of potential goddesses who have succumbed to anorex-chic tyranny is long indeed.

Let us hope that Miss Christensen will finally be the one curvaceous ingenue who defies the powers that be, and maintains, or augments, the beauty that she currently possesses.
