We are thrilled to announce that at yesterday's Young Artist Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, California (a.k.a. the "Junior Oscars"), the gorgeous Christina Schmidt won the award for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series for her portrayal of plus-size model Terri MacGregor in Degrassi: The Next Generation.

In fact, the win was a tie with Alia Shawkat of the Fox TV series Arrested Development.

We soon hope to be able to share some "paparazzi" photographs of Miss Schmidt at the event, as they become available. And if any readers of this forum come across news images of the evening's festivities, please pass them along.

According to an official press release from the Young Artist Awards organization, a long list of future luminaries received this honour in their youth, including "Leonardo DiCaprio, Ricky Schroder, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Christina Applegate, Cuba Gooding, Tori Spelling, Scott Baio, River Phoenix, Alyssa Milano, Gary Coleman, Melissa Gilbert, Shannon Doherty, Molly Ringwald, Diane Lane, Fred Savage, Elizabeth Shue, Justine and Jason Bateman, Malcolm Jamal Warner, Charlene Tilton, Erin Moran, David Faustino, Candice and Kirk Cameron, Tracy Gold, Melissa Joan Hart, Kim Fields, Soleil Moon Frye, John Stamos, Nancy McKeon, Michael Damian, Christian Bale, and many, many more."

But this is an especially significant win for size celebration, in that it recognizes the abilities of a full-figured young actress, who was actually playing the role of a plus-size model.

Let us hope that this award furthers Miss Schmidt's career, and that, as Hollywood shines its klieg lights upon her, it rediscovers the timeless allure of plus-size beauty.
