| Teachers becoming dieticians - its very sad. And what kind of lesson is this giving the kids? Children learn by example. When they see their schools obsessing about calories more than grades, a lot of kids will probably internalize those messed-up values, and live by them. I think getting a well-rounded education will do students a lot more good than getting trained in how to be a good customer for a diet company. And arent schools supposedly becoming more tolerant and accepting? I guess that doesnt apply to being full-figured. In THAT case, its seems, the schools can still stigmatize students. The only bullies plus-size girls used to have to worry about were other kids. Are the schools now becoming bullies, too? I only hope that young girls receive enough positive messages elsewhere, and learn enough about thinking for themselves, so they dont develop negative body image at such a vulnerable age. And I hope some responsible educators begin to challenge these measures. |
