Here are two more images evoking singular experiences and sensations. The first image shows the Kelsey utterly frightened, but captivatingly so, raising a hundred different questions in the viewer's mind as to the cause. This entire series could easily be strung together as a magazine story, even with textual captions describing the imagined incidents--as Mode often did, and as Elena Miro revived in the Barbara Brickner editorial in the current issue of the company’s custom magazine. And this, more daring image powerfully captures a coming-of-age moment. The model's pose and expression conveys several emotions at once--expectancy, self-awareness (even awe at the force of her own power over the viewer), mixed with a tinge of apprehension. The attire may have a specific context, but its colour, pristine white, raises many possibilities about the moment being captured. The makeup is more vivid than in the previous images, suggesting a heightened intensity of emotions. As the plus-size fashion industry attracts more models such as Kelsey, who are gorgeous, and every bit as adept at posing as any straight-size supermodels, we are likely to the see the quality of imagery produced by the industry rising steadily, as ever-more-talented fashion professionals seek work in this genre, having discovered that they can convey their most artistic fantasies even more successfully with plus-size models than they could with androgynous waifs.
