We would like to thank Tim, Susanne, and Alice for sharing their very personal reactions with all of us. We would also like to extend our most heartfelt condolences to them, and to anyone who ever knew Shannon Boone Potter, for their loss. She must have been a truly extraordinary individual to have inspired such a loving tribute. Barbara Brickner's fans have long admired her for the transcendent beauty that she displays in her images. But listening to her deeply moving song, and then hearing from several individuals who have known her in a completely different way--not just as a living embodiment of the Classical ideal, but also as a close personal friend--has allowed us to see her in an entirely new light. It has revealed a richness and depth in her character that no camera could ever capture. We are deeply, deeply honoured to be able to share Mrs. Brickner's profound composition with the world. The present author can affirm that hearing this song transformed his own thinking about a similar loss that he suffered years ago, and helped to assuage his lingering grief. We are certain that anyone who reads Barbara's searching lyrics, and then hears her sing those words with such hear-rending conviction, will similarly find solace. In that way, through the song that she inspired, Shannon's spirit will continue to enrich the lives of many people who never had the privilege of knowing her in this lifetime.
