Credit for the makeup in this splendid series belongs to a friend of the photographer's, named Olivia, from New York. She did a marvellous job of capturing a look of sweetness in the model, but giving her a touch of gentle sensuality as well.
Kelsey represents a real possibility for plus-size modelling to move beyond the lifestyle looks to which it has often restricted itself, and to begin creating more unashamedly gorgeous imagery--while at the same time avoiding the ugly modernism that pervades the straight-size industry (which is preferred by exactly the same fashion elite that instituted the anorex-chic standard, and by no one else).
It will be fascinating to see if the industry takes advantage of the opportunity that Kelsey's beauty presents.
Here is another unique image, tinged with just a hint of . . . sadness? Regret? To see such a troubled expression in a face of such unearthly beauty plays on the viewer's emotions.
