From what we understand, Christina Schmidt's character, Terri, has been moved out of the spotlight for the early part of this season--for reasons about which it would be irresponsible to speculate. However, we have it on good authority that the producers of the series might include her character more often in future episodes if they received more feedback from the public.

Many of the other young stars on the series have aggressive publicity machines, and it would be a tragedy to lose this rare and invaluable example of a positive plus-size character on a series aimed at impressionable teens simply because of a lack of public response. Miss Schmidt's presence on Degrassi could help many girls and young women re-evaluate their body image in a more favourable way, especially since the medium of television plays such a pivotal role in shaping people's aesthetic beliefs.

If you are so inclined, please do drop a line to Epitome Pictures at, asking them to bring Christina back to the show--and, if possible, to give her character, Terri, increased visibility.

This is a rare opportunity to help persuade the media to provide an alternative to the (literally) anorexic celebrities who otherwise dominate popular culture.
