It's worth reflecting for a moment on the implications of this decision. It's as if Ford and Lane Bryant are saying to their customers, "Although we understand that Hollie was the most captivating choice, and the girl for whom most of you cast your ballots, we prefer someone else."

But at least Lane Bryant selected her as one of the finalists. And if nothing else, the results of the contest certainly demonstrate that the public is far ahead of where the industry thinks it is, in terms of embracing plus-size beauty.

If we are very fortunate, perhaps her win in the popular vote will encourge the gorgeous Ms. Lawing to make a genuine attempt at plus-size modelling. She has already earned herself a devoted fan base.

(Incidentally, Lane Bryant's new fall flyer--linked below, or viewable from the company site--is well worth a glance. Note in particular Maiysha's soft and dreamlike lingerie photo, along with Crystal Renn's back cover image. This is altogether one of LB's better promotions.)
