I've been watching Indian movies for several years now and I've noticed
that quite a lot of the actresses in the Southern Indian film industry are
full figured. I’m not talking here about the actresses in the Northern
Indian/Hindi film industry - also known as Bollywood – who are usually
thin ex models. I’m talking about actresses in the Southern Indian film
industry (which is just as big as Bollywood). These movies are made in
the Southern states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala and are
watched by millions of people, not just in India, but also in Asia and
the Middle East.

Recently Indian movies in general have been getting more and more
publicity, some being nominated for Best Foreign Movie Oscars. Even
Britney Spears is reputedly interested in making a cameo in one of
them.

If the actresses listed below were to appear in an American or
European movie, would definitely be told that they’d have to loose
weight, or would be relegated to supporting roles, but in Southern
India they’re big stars, the equivalent of our A-list actresses.
