The beauty of this campaign staggers belief. Nothing Lane Bryant has ever produced before even comes close. This new Cacique promotion easily ranks with the greatest lingerie camapaigns of the past (Barbara Brickner for Mode, Valerie for Vassarette, and Jordan for Addition-Elle), and in terms of environment, it surpasses them all.

Here is the centrepiece of the series--a dizzying image of Maiysha as an Odalisque come to life. It is a measure of just how far Lane Bryant has come in one short year, when one compares this masterpiece to last year's Valentine lingerie promotion, which also featured Maiysha in a similar pose, but without any notable backdrop, and showcasing far less attractive garments.

Notice how the classical settings and soft photography lend elegance and refinement to these images--which would otherwise seem risque--and enable them to avoid even a trace of vulgarity. In that, they truly achieve the level of art.

The richness and beauty of this spring campaign is beyond intoxicating. At the moment, Lane Bryant is evoking "twenty-first century opulence" better than any other plus-size retailer, matching the quality of even the finest bridal campaigns. And paradoxical as it may seem (considering the nature of the imagery), that makes this the most "cutting edge" promotion in the industry--for today, the most original and memorable campaigns are those that renounce minimalism and modernity to the furthest degree, and evoke timeless beauty most vividly.
