The site to which Emily originally linked appears to have sold the Asti card that she posted, and removed it from their server--so here is a re-post of Asti's Marguerite:

And here is another Asti canvas, reproduced in 1890s postcard form. If Asti's goddesses look this lovely in simple postcard reproductions, one can only imagine how pretty the original paintings must have looked--let alone the actual subjects whose beauty the artist preserved for all eternity:

Pre-modern images such as these era confirm that the beauty of today's most gorgeous plus-size models (Shannon Marie, Valerie Lefkowitz, Christina Schmidt, etc.), characterized by soft facial features, long tresses, and a peaches-and-cream complexion, was the ideal of femininity prior to 1900.
