Here's a great article about Voluptuous, the "Canadian Torrid", and plus-size fashion in Canada. It plays down those stupid "scare stats", and plays up the benefits of the fuller female figure:

"When you're with skinnier friends they look better because their clothes are better," Samuels said. "Now, we can look as good, if not better, because we're wearing the same fashions."
