I would have to say that Valerie is rightly celebrated. I've been reading the comments about her that have appeared on this forum for a long time, and they are all well deserved. I don't really care for "active wear" myself, probably sooner shopping for Dress Barn Woman styles, but that first image made me pay attention in a way that I never would have otherwise.
I'm a little past the stage where my self-image is vulnerable to media pressure, but I have to admit, I still get an esteem boost when I see a beautiful plus-size model with so much confidence. And I admire Valerie's craft in creating images as an art-form in its own right.
