It's been a while since we've had the privilege of announcing a new talent in the industry who appears to be a godsend, an angel descended from heaven expressly to show the world the true nature of feminine beauty.
Today, we are pleased to announce the debut of just such a talent.
You are looking at a new face from Wilhelmina L.A. named Kelsey O.
Kelsey is 5'10, wears a dress size 14, and her measurements are 38c-37-42.
(Curvy midriffs are in!)
There are no two ways about it. Kelsey is a perfect plus-size model. She is unbelievably pretty, has a soft, very natural-looking figure, and absolutely radiates joy.
And her complexion also exhibits the peaches-and-cream fairness that has been the hallmark of feminine beauty since time immemorial.
We have heard numerous comparisons of Kelsey to some of the emergent talents in Hollywood, from Hilary Duff to Emily de Raven to Elisabeth Harnois, but ultimately, Kelsey's look is sui generis.
Once the initial period of being completely and utterly mesmerized by Kelsey's look passes (which will take considerable time), take note of just how accomplished this initial test series is. In fact, one can say without hesitation that this is as successful a "first test" as we have ever seen from any plus-size model. Kelsey is remarkably composed in front of the camera, and is already capable of projecting remarkable intensity.
And beyond that, do not fail to notice that both the styling and the photography for this test series are absolutely inspired. This outfit in particular is a shining example of the "New Femininity," and the "mood" of the images is very Mode-like, from the the gentle warmth of the colours to the relaxed, "tropical vacation" settings.
If Winter 2004 was dominated by the emergence of Charlotte C. as a dynamic new talent, then Spring 2005 may be distinguished by the arrival of this extraordinary new beauty, to whom many a young girl will undoubtedly be able to relate in a more personal way than to many of the models in the industry.
And we find it particularly fitting that Kelsey is a Wilhelmina L.A. model. In a land that is notorious for the artificiality of its prescribed standard of appearance, it seems almost providential to find a model emerge whose beauty is at once representative of the timeless ideal, and simultaneously so . . . natural.
