It's a shame that the Isaac Mizrahi online promotions aren't a little bit more progressive. However, Target's television commercials featuring Valerie have reached a considerable audience, and have prompted many viewers to revise their impressions of full-figured women, so the company deserves its share of praise. And the fact that Target is letting Valerie showcase a . . . bikini is quite a leap forward (even though they seem to be needlessly shy about it). If Target does put out a summer TV spot, let us hope that Valerie earns more of the spotlight.
The bikini is, one might say, the last hurdle for plus-size models to conquer in order to prove that full-figured women really can wear anything their underweight rivals can--and look better, too. And if any genuinely curvaceous model could prove this point, it would be Valerie.
The plus-size Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition is now one step closer . . .
NOTE: to all of the (mostly, but not exclusively) male readers of this site who have sent us requests--no, we do not have any more images of Ms. Lekowitz in that polka-dot bikini at the moment. Sorry. It would be a privilege to post them, if we did.
