Not only would a "Retail, Restaurants, and Apparel" mating be a fruitful collaboration, but such an alliance would also be in the public good.

As we have stated before, this site is neither pro-commerce or anti-commerce, because--as with so many things in life--this arena of human activity has a positive side and a negative side. There is "good capitalism," and there is "bad capitalism." And in answer to the question, "Which is which, in this case?", consider the contrast:

The weight-control profiteers exist for no other purpose than to make women feel ashamed of themselves, dissatisfied with their body image, and resentful of their natural figures. Without any conscience--without any respect for their fellow human beings--they seek to brainwash women into willingly--willingly--starving themselves, torturing themselves in gym prisons, submitting to excruciating "plastic surgery" operations designed to slice apart their curves and/or insert artificial matter into their bodies (all the while putting their lives at risk).

Capitalism? This is pure barbarism.

Now, the companies on other side, the "restaurants and retail" side, are simply trying to help women feel good about themselves, to give them attractive fashions in their own price range, to provide them with tools to help them appreciate their figures, and feel confident and desirable, whatever they are doing; and from the restaurant side, to offer them places to dine and enjoy an evening out, once those feminine fashions help them capture the affections of hordes of suitors.

Capitalism? This is one step away from philanthropy.

And these two opposing alliances--the forces that are saying, "Hate yourself," and the forces that are saying "Love yourself"--are competing for the same resources, the same income, the same precious dollar from each individual curvy vixen in the country.

And depending on which of these two groups wins the self-image war, that dollar will either be a dollar that the vixen spends punishing herself, or a dollar that she spends enjoying herself.

It will either be a dollar that she devotes to hating herself, or a dollar that she devotes to loving herself.

The forces of body-hatred have been working together successfully for nearly a century.

Isn't it high time for the forces of body-love to work together, to assure plus-size women that they can lives free of guilt, and filled with joy?
