This Web site is an homage to one of the most beautiful stars in the plus-size modelling firmament.
Valerie Lefkowitz has been one of the Wilhelmina agency’s top plus-size models from the time that she was discovered at the age of fifteen, in 1996. As a junior model, she was dubbed one of the “most influential teens in America” by Teen People, and her images graced the pages of magazines such as Seventeen, Jump, Twist, Girl, YM, and MODE.
Valerie appeared on the covers of the Spring and Winter 2004 issues of Figure magazine, as well as throughout the magazine’s Summer and Fall 2004 issues, and has graced the editorial pages of Grace, Glamour, and Real Simple. Her commercial clients at home and abroad have included Fashion Bug, Fruit of the Loom, Dockers, Dress Barn, Target, Emme Bridal, Vassarette, Reitmans (Canada), Goody’s Family Clothing, Junonia, Moonlight Bridal, Nordstrom, David’s Bridal, The Avenue, Wehkamp (Holland), and Kmart brands such as the new Jaclyn Smith Style collection, Joe Boxer, and Basic Edition.
An actress as well as a model, Ms. Lefkowitz has appeared in television commercials for designer Isaac Mizrahi (Target), for Zelnorm, and for David’s Bridal.
This site currently offers eleven galleries of Ms. Lefkowitz’s most stunning work (both commercial and editorial). Anyone wishing to learn more about the model should read “Beautiful Just As You Are,” an inspiring first-person profile written for The Alliance for Eating Disorder Awareness, as well as a a personal statement from Valerie which will be included in a forthcoming book for teens titled, Stone Soup for the Teen World (excerpted here), along with the Wilhelmina agency’s somewhat dated official profile of the model.
Valerie’s fans may also wish to vote for her at the Judgment of Paris survey page, which offers visitors an opportunity to choose their favourite from among the world’s most gorgeous plus-size models. Visitors may also wish to explore the Timeless Beauty page, which situates full-figured feminine beauty within a historical and artistic framework, as well as No Second Troy, which charts the progress of the survey voting. The Beauty of the Dawn comprises a selection of fan appreciation for Ms. Lefkowitz’s work.
Aficionados can now also see Valerie in living motion in several TV appearances that were filmed while she was authentically curvaceous (in 2002 and 2003), in our new video gallery.
Although this is a non-profit, “unofficial” homage, if the copyright holders of any of the images found within object to having their work reproduced on these pages, I would ask that they notify me, so that I may remove the offending items.
